  1. Who the heck organized RSD anyway? Seems very odd but clearly profitable. I find the whole idea of vinyl only in 2024 truly bizarre. I mean I get offering it but vinyl ONLY? Do you want to sell the music or not?
  2. I can't find any ordering info about the Nat Cole set.
  3. George Coleman Quartet at the Regattabar in Cambridge last night. Awesome. I can't figure out which octogenarian is more impressive, Coleman, Billy Harper, or Charles McPherson... Lord just let me get to 80 well enough to do anything competently...
  4. https://dlmediamusic.com/artists/charles-mcpherson-reverence/ This is now on my to-buy list. I'm curious what the other "live" releases planned are. I can't find anything on their Bandcamp website yet. Anybody else in? And have you got any other info?
  5. I'm going this weekend to see him at the Regattabar in Cambridge MA. I'm hoping he's in as good as health as possible.
  6. I hate that series, honestly. I got out of vinyl when I was a kid. I have ZERO desire to go back. I don't like any vinyl only release programs, unless the music stinks and then I don't feel bad. 🤣
  7. Almost anything by Muriel Grossman which I discovered a few years ago... Amazing. Anytime I need spirituality or grounding that's where I go. But/And it's really nice to have such a large library to "find" artists I haven't listened to in years. (At the moment I'm getting into Bill Frissell.)
  8. On a whim, I went to see Bill Frissell's Trio in Cambridge last night. Gregory Tardy (on sax, flute and I think bass clarinet) and Rudy Royston on drums. I had low expectations as I'm generally not a Frissell fan but the band blew me away. Tardy in particular was incredible. That band understands space and not playing over each other but with one another. It was really great.
  9. Thanks. I'm hoping these RSD releases are going to start appearing with CD versions on other sties soon.
  10. Thanks. I thought I saw it somewhere... but forgot to search... Old age and sleep deprivation....
  11. https://www.importcds.com/nina-simone-blackbird-the-colpix-recordings-1959-1963-import/5013929091832 So what do you think???? Obviously it's at a ridiculously attractive price. 12. I am so confused by what Zev Feldman is doing. I'm sure there are good reasons but it's confusing me. The upcoming RSD releases we've talked about in other threads (2 2cd sets Cannonball, Mal Waldron-Steve Lacy, and the Yuseef Lateef have all been posted to the Elemental Records Bandcamp site. (link below). It's European which significantly increases the cost of shipping the physical CDs. https://elementalmusicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/mal-waldron-steve-lacy-the-mighty-warriors-live-in-antwerp?from=fanpub_fnb https://elementalmusicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/yusef-lateef-quartet-the-1972-avignon-concert https://elementalmusicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/cannonball-adderley-poppin-in-paris-live-at-lolympia-1972 https://elementalmusicrecords.bandcamp.com/album/cannonball-adderley-burnin-in-bordeaux-live-in-france-1969 The Jazz Detective label which has many of the same releases but domestic versions/prices doesn't list any of them. https://jazz-detective.bandcamp.com/ The domestic versions of his prior sets are cheaper in part because of the shipping. Does anyone understand why he's got these two sites? Also one pet peeve of mine... is that at least one of the Cannonball and several of his prior Jamal sets could have fit on one physical CD. Isn't it cheaper to produce and sell one CD vs two CD sets? I mean I'm very happy he's getting this stuff out with regularity but I'm very confused about the different labels, prices, and CD strategies. Can anyone clue me in?
  13. Interesting.... Need more info though.
  14. Let me know if you find a Bandcamp link. I haven't been able to. The Tatum and Sonny are up for preorder, which I did.
  15. This one got my attention after I looked at it more... https://lydialiebman.com/index.php/2024/02/15/new-release-cannonball-adderley-burnin-in-bordeaux-live-in-france-1969-poppin-in-paris-live-at-lolympia-1972-record-store-day-exclusives-out-april-20-cd-digita/ This Record Store Day, Elemental Music will launch a pair of previously unreleased recordings by alto saxophone giant Cannonball Adderley, recorded Live in France. Burnin’ in Bordeaux (1969) and Poppin’ in Paris (1972), both special edition, double 180-gram LP sets will release exclusively for RSD on April 20, 2024. On April 26, the recordings will be available as deluxe, double CD sets, and digitally.
  16. Thanks for the list. I'm hoping NONE of these are vinyl-only releases. I'm completely in on Sonny, Yusuf, and probably the Mal Waldron. The Nat Cole is an absolute.. Here's a little more info I found on that one. https://desertlocalnews.com/news/index/view/nat-king-cole-live-at-the-blue-note-chicago-set-for-record-store-day-first-never-before-heard-live-collection-out-from-iconic-artists-group
  17. I can't seem to find any link on Bandcamp or anywhere yet.
  18. Zev is killing me with these releases... Why is he putting these out while I'm waiting on my tax refund....??? Uggh... 😕
  19. Hmmm.... I have to think about this one... Maybe.. probably....
  20. Love it... Zev is getting some cash from me with these upcoming Sonny, Art and now Yusef releases.
