  1. Sad news. He's one of my favourites on the instrument.
  2. This is very sad news. Met him once. One of the great alto saxophonists.
  3. I posted that list 15 years ago and in the meantime some of thiose albums have been reissued by Fresh Sound, but might be OOP by now.
  4. Sad news. According to his profile he was 87, a respectable age.
  5. You're right, totally forgot about that third Hip-O set. Never got it, the material is not my cup of tea. The 1950s were Berry's prime years; the decline set in during the following decade, although he made a few fine recordings in the early 1960s.
  6. A contact of mine in the 1970s was a big Pizzarelli fan. Sad news.
  7. Another one of the "old guard" gone... Sad news.
  8. Universal also released You Never Can Tell: His Complete Chess Recordings 1960-1966 on their (now discontinued) Hip-O label. I have both sets, but don't like the sound very much, it's also too "sanitized" as you call it.
  9. I knew he was severely ill, so it's not totally unexpected, but still very sad news. I love his early albums, got the self-titled when it came out in 1971 and couldn't stop playing it. I'll miss him.
  10. Very sad indeed and way too young, he would have turned 60 next month.
  11. My buying and selling days with people outside the EU are long gone, not in the least because of the ridiculous overseas shipping rates these days.
  12. I can't remember when I last used checks, must be 20+ years ago. I'm not paying with cash in stores here in the Netherlands anymore either, I'm paying electronically by bank card; payments by smartphone are also pretty common here these days.
  13. Within the EU bank-to-bank transfers in euro are free, or at least they should be according to EU rules.
  14. When we still had checks/cheques here long ago the account number was indeed on them and I guess it's the same in the US.
  15. Shees man, calm down, it was just a general observation, not meant as a personal attack. If you want to use checks only, fine with me, no problem.
  16. It always amazes me that people in the US still use checks. Over here they're long gone, it's electronic payments, PayPal or credit cards only - and a variety of those and cash in stores.
  17. I know, and I appreciate your offer. Meanwhile, someone in the EU has contacted me. I'll post an update as soon as I know more.
  18. Of course not. I got a booklet from Mosaic after I had sold the set. They were selling booklets for $10 at the time.
  19. Thanks Brad. Do you have any idea what they're generally asking for Mosaic sets, insanely high or moderate prices? There's also overseas shipping, which is quite expensive these days; that's why I was initially asking people living in the EU or UK.
  20. Thanks. I had the set, but sold it a couple of years ago in an effort to thin out my collection. Wrong decision...
  21. I'm looking for the Donald Byrd/Pepper Adams Mosaic 4CD-set (MD4-194) in EXC or better condition. If anyone in the EU or UK is selling this set for a reasonable price, please PM me. Thanks. It's no problem if the booklet is missing, I already have a copy.
