and then you're stuck at work and a freak lightning storm rolls through the hood and all your gear is fried...................................................
Happened to me once. Fortunately, my telephone / fax machine was the only equipment that got roasted; my Mark Levinson amp shut down and wasn't damaged, and my CD transport / converter and electrostatic speakers were switched off...

I'd be interested too, though an overseas subscription is a hefty $89.95 for 4 issues!

By the way, isn't it De Falla?
The only two De Falla discs in my collection are:
Noches en los jardines de España
(plus Isaac Albéniz: Rapsodia española; Joaquín Turina: Rapsodia sinfónica)
- Alicia de Larrocha / London Philharmonic Orchestra / Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos
Decca 410289
El amor brujo
- Orchestre symphonique de Montréal / Charles Dutoit
Noches en los jardines de España
- Alicia de Larrocha / London Philharmonic Orchestra / Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos
(plus Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez by the MSO / Dutoit)
Decca 430703
Not much, I admit...
Haven't played them for a long time, so I can't really comment.

Take 'er easy,
Who??

I'm still a bit curious as to why you're here at all, Jimmy. The percentage of your posts which just deals with the alleged hypocrisy of Christiern is certainly not decreasing.
I was wondering about that, too...

Happy birthday, Chuck.

That CD Universe listing is completely messed up. Fortunately this is not actually the strings album (which was reissued on a twofer a few years ago), but the octet album (MG 36043) that was his debut album for EmArcy. It has not been on CD before, at least not in the US.
I hope you're right... The tracklisting on the CDUniverse page indeed belongs to EmArcy MG 36043.

Johnny's Corner Song is also available from OmniTone: http://www.omnitone.com/store/label-auricle.htm

Sonny Stitt's New York Jazz will be in the same June 10 batch as the Mitchell: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?...996&Style=MUSIC,
and so will be Cannonball Adderley's EmArcy sessions with strings: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?...996&style=music
and Lee Konitz' Motion (the single CD, not the triple album): http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?...ic&frm=lk_jzmtz
Just thought I'd mention it

The J.J. Johnson set is one of the best Mosaic sets in my opinion. Get it before it's too late!

I found a used LP of Al Grey's SNAP YOUR FINGERS (Argo) a short time ago and there's a couple of mighty fine Mitchell solos on that album. Not sure if that's the one you're talking about, Weizen. I don't know if it has been re-issued yet, but it should be. Hutcherson's also on it, while Donald Byrd and Herbie Hancock sit-in(?) with the band on a live date on side two. Worth searching for.
Snap Your Fingers will be reissued by Verve later this year, at least according to Alan Lankin's Jazzmatazz site: http://home.att.net/~lankina/jazz/upcoming...s.html#upcoming

This Is Billy Mitchell with Bobby Hutcherson will hit the street on June 10: http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?...&cart=145868103.

Hey Hans,
Aren't the dates you mention actually refer to the span of the release, like it's only available for 2 years...? That's how I've always interpreted those dates. I usually see them always span 2 years, on most Japanese releases/reissues.
One of my Japanese sources told me that they really are two release dates; you only see them on reissued Japanese discs. As far as I know these Beatles CDs are still available; I got them from Amazon Japan only a few months ago.
-
Hans,
can you tell me what the release-date of these CDs is?
Thanks,
Helmut
The CDs were released on March 11, 1998.

I agree, with the exception of the JRVGs, which I don't like at all.
-
$70?? Good grief How much are first row seats?
-
What is the title of the Mitchell and what label is it on?
That Pinnock set has great "period" performances, though I always found the complete symphonies a bit much...
-
Any comments on the music, Chuck?

...And thanks also for the unforgettable Untouchables!
