  1. 1948 is an outstanding collection of classic Thornhill on the Hep label! I believe The Troubador is also available on Hep #74 as Volume 2 of the 1946-47 Transcription Performances. You might check it out on Amazon.
  2. Thanks for the link Jazzbo..I was able to order a copy through them. I also found a source for Vol 10 of the Armstrong Cotton Club CD..The Cotton Club 1939-43. You can order a copy through the whole saler Ricko mentioned in his informative post on the Armstrong Ambassador CDs. The only issue is that they accept cash or a bank transfer only. Eh, why not? The remainder of the Ambassador sets are easily found on Amazon.com
  3. You can obtain the Jivin' in Bebop DVD on Amazon.com for a very good price. I also saw one on eBay for $1.00. The Blue Moon CD of Jivin' in Bebop is currently going for $40 on Amazon.
  4. I echo these sentiments. Get better soon! Although I have no interest in any of your sets, it does look like you've got a pack of people who are interested! Good luck to you and make sure you hang around! Thanks guys. I am a retired Air Force MSgt (27 years) and can take ribbing and joking. Rudeness is a different issue. The stoke just left me with some slight memory impairment. I could have easily dropped off the Mosaics at a local reseller in Westport, CT and made a haul. Not my intention. I don't need the cash, it is more a case of my not having any use for these items and wanting to make them available at reasonable cost to forum members. They are just sitting around collecting dust, I am getting rid of brick a brac, and thought they would be appreciated by genuine fans. As I mentioned, the packing and mailing is a pain but I can handle that. Knowing someone will enjoy a set I no longer need is key. Bickering about who was 'first' is kind of petty. I am not on the internet all that much and would like to ensure each member gets what they want. Kind of like recyling. I've gleaned a lot of valuable information about music from reading the forum and have also made a lot of purchases based on info in the topics. Appreciate a recommendation or re- release and am enjoying the Cotton Club set which cost a few dollars. Thanks to you guys, I was able to put my Chet items in some semblance of order and still play the old scratchy 10 inchers I bought in second hand stores for a few bucks. Thanks to Ubu, I found the Chet track I had asked about on one of my CDs. My putting my unwanted items up for sale at what they cost me is my way of saying thanks to a great group of individuals who indeed know their stuff. Now...of someone can tell me how much the Charles Brown Aladdin cost new, I can get it to a member who will enjoy it. I've looked through several old Mosaic catalogs to no avail.
  5. Guys, I am inundated with PM's. Am doing the best to answer your questions. The Mercury set is not the one that looks like a radio. It is in a black oblong box and contains the Mercury CDs which were issued seperately also. You can check it out on Amazon....Mercury Blues 'n Rhythm...I am asking $75 for that set. Kind of bear with me, I have to get the proper boxes for mailing, bubble wrap and figure out postage from the post office. Have not located the original price for the Charles Brown LP but is is spoken for. Kenton Presents, the Chico, Anita O'Day, Bud Shank are spoken for so far. The Bear Family album is $229.95 which is what I paid for it from Collector's Choice in 2003.
  6. With the exception of the Mulligan/Baker set and the two Baker LP sets, I am asking the ORIGINAL Mosaic price for each Mosaic set plus shipping. So the Chico CD set, for example, originally sold for $96, so I would ask for the original price plus postage, handling and insurance if you wish insurance. I paid $150 for the Mulligan/Baker CD set and $150 for each Baker LP set, so I feel $150 for each plus postage, handling and insurance is fair. ORIGINAL Mosaic prices for the other sets also plus postage, etc. I abhor all of the 'scalping' 'shilling' and so forth on eBay and Amazon and refuse to participate in such activity. We are talking about music and keeping it affordable so those who didn't have the opportunity to get these sets new can ENJOY them. $400+ for Anita is ridiculous. I only seek to recoup my original purchase price of whatever it sold for new. I believe it was $144. For the 'non Mosaic' sets, such as the Mercury's and Bear Family, again ORIGINAL selling price is fine plus postage, etc. Feel free to make an offer on the Keynote set. I believe I may have paid $400 for it on eBay, not sure. I never played it because I have a lot of the material on Mercury/Definitive sets I picked up for a few dollars. But someone on the forum might derive some enjoyment from it. I did find two more items: The Miles Davis 1970 Cellar Door Sessions Never played. (Best offer gets this) Gerry Mulligan Quartet Vol 1 (Ltd, Paper Sleeve/24bit Toshiba TOCJ-9341. Sealed in mini Japanese LP style CD with obi. It cost 21.99 L (British currency). Have no clue how much 21 pounds 99 pence is. Again, original price plus postage, etc. I hope these prices are realistic to you guys. Music is meant to be enjoyed and played and the forum will enjoy these sets more than an eBay speculator.

I ordered it on eBay on 2005 and never played it. Looks to be in primo condition.) The Complete JATP on Verve 1944-1945 10 CDs with booklet (Never played) I may have a few more items laying around which have never been played. These are all of the items I have so far.
  8. I don't know the proper protocol for selling my Mosaics and some other boxed sets on this forum. Would appreciate your advice. In July I suffered an acute stroke, and wish to liquidate my collection. Since I don't play them, perhaps you guys on the forum would get enjoyment from them. However, I'd rather give you people first dibs because I enjoy the forum and do not want to deal with eBay speculators or craziness. Among the Mosaics I have are Charles Brown, Anita O'Day, the Chet Bakers, Gerry Mulligan, Chico Hamilton, Illinois Jacquet and others. Also some Mercury R&B boxed sets, the big JATP set, and The Complete Keynote Collection. I am working on a listing, and have the serial numbers of the Mosaics. All CDs and LPs are in VG+ condition. Many have never been played and some only twice. They all have their original boxes (some have corner splits), and booklets. If it is permissable, I will post my list. I am not asking outrageous prices...merely fair market value. Please advise.
  9. I really like this cd. His voice is sincere and affecting in my opinion. This particular Japanese mini CD (blue and grey cover) of Chet Baker Sings uses simulated <eq> stereo. I have it along with another Japanese mini CD of Chet Baker Sings with a red and yellow cover which does not use processing. I believe there are copies of both versions available on Amazon. The most interesting release of Chet Baker Sings is called The Best of Chet Baker Sings on Blue Note (Pacific Jazz). The liner notes put the whole 'Sings' collection in proper perspective. In the liner notes, mention is made of reprocessing and two 'test records' of Chet singing. One version was unearthed on the Mosaic set of Baker and Freeman.
  10. Can any of you gentlemen recommend an 'interim' substitute for the upcoming Storyville release of these 1938 broadcasts? I currently have the 1938 'anthology' pictured elsewhere in this topic. Also a small boxed set on the Frimeaux (sp?) label called Cotton Cub. How about the Bear Family Cotton Club set? Any feedback? It's still available for about $59 from several sources.
  11. Worst Mosaic decisions have been: The Chico Hamilton Charles Brown Aladdin Set Kenton Presents Cooper, Holman and Rosolino Illinois Jaquet Woody Herman Capitol Set
  12. I recently received an email from Worlds Records indicating that ASV records has been 'shut down. World's is offering a 15% discount on remaining ASV stock on their website. Althought not technically 'jazz', ASV has a lot of material which is not available elsewhere. Does anyone have any details on this 'shutdown'?
