  1. Dammit, I need all of them! By the way, how much are those Keepnews Collection CDs in record shops? Here in Greece while OJCs and RVGs are standard mid-price (6.90 euros) the Keepnewses sell for 9.90 euros... I wonder why...
  2. That's on its way to my doorstep as we speak. Want a copy?
  3. Joe Henderson: The Elements (OJC) Elmo Hope: Trio And Quintet (Connoisseur Series) Roscoe Mitchell: Sound (Delmark) Jackie McLean: Live At Montmarte (SteepleChase) Milt Jackson: Wizard Of The Vibes (RVG Edition) Eric Dolphy: Gaslight 1962 (Get Back) (quite pleased I found the Roscoe Mitchell -- you don't see many Delmark CDs in greek record shops)
  4. Yes, I know, you're right about that. Isn't it a bit pointless though? I mean, the only reason the greek papers print those lists is to report on how the greek clubs ranked...
  5. Probably at the same place, they get the FIFA rankings. Probably! But an organisation as pompously-named as the "International Federation of Football History and Statistics" (if I'm not mistaken that's what IFFHS actually stands for) really needs to do a lot better than boring ole FIFA...
  6. According to the IFFHS, these were the top 10 clubs of 2007: 1. Sevilla (306 points) 2. Manchester United (281 pts) 3. AC Milan (280 pts) 4. Chelsea (277 pts) 5. Santos (254 pts) 6. Boca Juniors (252 pts) 7. Inter Milan (236 pts) 8. Liverpool (231 pts) 9. AS Roma (229 pts) 10. America Mexico (222,5 pts) I'm not sure how they award those points but it seems a bit wrong, doesn't it?
  7. Little Jimmy Osmond Big Youth Big Black
  8. I wouldn't call them "pop" exactly, but... Tim Buckley's last 3 albums are amazing! OK, "Sefronia" is maybe a bit patchy, but both "Greetings From L.A." and "Look At The Fool" are dirty, sleazy and pretty damn funky records. What's not to like? Van Dyke Parks' trilogy of "Song Cycle", "Discover America" and "Clang Of The Yankee Reaper" is also great, but I can sort of understand why some people seem to REALLY dislike him...
  9. It was mostly jazz reissues for me in 2007, trying to fill the enormous gaps in my collection. Lots of Jimmy Smith, Grant Green, Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Duke Ellington, Dollar Brand and Lee Morgan. What I listened to the most though were Kenny Dorham's RVGs, especially those with Joe Henderson (Una Mas still completely blows me away). As for non-jazz stuff I revisited, among others, my Gene Clark and Half Japanese albums. Still love 'em!
  10. Even though I'm a Lazio fan, that was a FANTASTIC team. Fabio Capello's AC Milan, the team that trashed Barcelona 4-0 in the European Cup Final, was also great. Juventus may have won more championship titles but I think AC Milan have always played the most attractive football in Italy. If Man Utd don't win the Champions League this year, then I hope it's them.
