Wish baseball would forget about this World Championship bs in March and open the season earlier, gosh, the season almost went into November! What a waste of time. I'm already looking forward to new season -- football stinks. I feel the same way. I used to love football. Just can't get into the pro game at all anymore. College a little bit, but not nearly as much as I used to. Pitchers and catchers will be reporting before you know it!! (except, not here anymore ... ... that's going to be weird.) Football has been awesome here in recent vintage, though truly, I'm a baseball guy at heart (and hockey, but that's tough to admit when the Bruins continue to be so damned marginal). This year, though, minus god at QB, I haven't been able to get into football... at all. Even though it's a great time to be on the Celtic bandwagon, I just can't stomach thugball. What the hell happened to the NBA? Give me the WNBA any day; they still play basketball.

Al, it makes sense but I have some questions. For instance, I didn't do a hard disc on mine, rather making it available through a real-time player and/or download. Would this also be an option? I know some folks like the old-fashioned disc (alright, that's just funny), but in the name of being green, I'll submit that the online player is a viable alternative (now that I've got the S.O.B. working correctly!).

I'll respectfully disagree with Allen on his assessment of this band. Love Apfelbaum. I even liked Luminous Charms (which did not have the extended band). He's one of the few guys of his era that really speaks to me. LOVED the stuff with Don Cherry.

Ah yes... overpay to keep him from the Skanks... that's always worked well. Well, I was fresh out of asshole powder, seems the bulk of it was shipped to Florida. As it happens, ye who can't be questioned, Teixeira came through the minors as a [very good] 3B, but that position was occupied in Texas by Hank Blalock. Either could have been moved, but since Blalock had played the position at the MLB level Texas opted to move Teixeira. Youkilis, though originally a 3B, is better at 1B. It's at least worth considering trying Teixeira out at 3B. Well, hate monger, as it happens, Lowell -- if you'd spend half as much time fact checking as being an asshole -- was one of the most solid Sox this season (compare his production to games played prior to aggravating the injury in September). But, keep talking -- you've never let facts stand in your way. You really ought to apply at Fox News. Perhaps you should get out more. Ah yes, that's it... because fielding average tells us everything. Hey, turd burglar, try having a civil conversation just once in your life. I brought it up in the MLB 2008 thread, so I'll start it here. My beloved Sox are toying with the idea of trading Mike Lowell (2 rings, WS MVP, carved from awesome stone) to make room for Mark Teixeira (0 rings, 0 MVP, unproven, higher taxes, not ready to lead... oh, wait... skip the part about the taxes). Don't get me wrong, I love Teixeira, but I don't toss a guy like Lowell aside (particularly when doing so will cost me several million dollars). Also, Teixeira is going to warrant a long-term, BIG money contract, and the Sox just got out from underneath one such albatross. I hope Theo is smarter than this. If they *do* make the move, I hope they'll consider moving Teixeira back to 3B, his natural position, and move Youk back to 1B, his adopted position, at which he is much better. That's the kick-off, I've got to do some work, now.

Yeah, apparently he's not familiar with the double switch. I have to say, strike 2 to Hinske was bullshit. Not only was it not a strike, I can't believe Kellogg made that call without even an appeal. Not that Hinske is a sure thing, but you hate to see that call at that point in the game/series. Phillies took it a game sooner than I figured, but that's testimony to two things: 1) how much the Sox series took out of the Rays, and 2) just how goddamned powerful the Phillies are. Alright, now that that's out of the way, who's going to start the 2008-2009 Hot Stove thread?

I find Darling's voice tough to get beyond... reminds me of Willie from the TV show Alf. Buck Martinez commentary in the series, his double entendres notwithstanding, was excellent.

I've agreed with 95% of what you've said post game 7, Al, but I have to cry foul here. The reason at least half of RSN missed the ending of game 5 is the asinine TV schedule. Just to be fair, Sox fans typically stay to the end of every game and don't miss a pitch (live). But when your game starts an hour later than usual, particularly during the school year, that really screws east coast fans, and frankly, I'm a little sick of it.

First and foremost, congrats to the Rays; I can say now that I believe the better team won. If Lowell & Ortiz are healthy and Youk is playing first, I might feel otherwise. But this M*A*S*H unit acquitted themselves well and have nothing to be ashamed of. Lester threw a helluva game, AS DID GARZA. I was thrilled to get him out of the game, but there's no scapegoat here -- that was great baseball. Coco came the closest to a mistake when he was caught up in the mindset of breaking up the DP, but that's very forgivable. Jimmy Young was on NECN this morning and said he expects the Sox will give the Captain a 2-year offer, which I think is the right deal if you make it clear that he's coming back to help the transition to a new direction. JV may have other ideas, though. After the game he was very emotional when asked if this was his last game as a member of the team. He's had a bitch of a year, on and off the field, and may just be ready. Tampa is an exciting, deep team (I mean Hinske is not even on the ROSTER! - a mistake if they don't change that for next series). Garza stepped up big time last night, and my hat is off to him -- he really pitched a helluva game. I was not in love with the home plate ump (wish McLelland had stayed behind for this one, too), but I don't think he can be blamed for the game's results, either. He made gaffs that hurt both teams, but nothing of game-changing proportions. I'm still not convinced Drew swung at the ball, but Bay definitely did, and frankly, I'm not sure Drew was going to catch up to that nasty shit Price was throwing. I'll be rooting for Tampa Bay in the series (a big change because, Sox notwithstanding, I route NL), but I think Philly is going to roast them. Either way, it's going to be an exciting matchup (and I'll probably miss half of it because I won't have the guilt of going to bed on the home team!).

Wow, Jack. I'm surprised by this. There were a few of those I figured *only* you would get. In fact, I believe you may have been in attendance for that James Williams show. Most people went to the Thursday show, which featured one of the Eubanks, but I forget which. In the future, my BFTs will probably lean more to the inside. As I say, this was made from what was on my laptop at the moment... also, I was still reeling from Berigan's BFT, that royally kicked my ass and hurt my feelings.

No THAT (strike 'em out/throw 'em out DP) was a stupid fahkin' play! What the hell were they thinking?! Good news is that's likely the game for Garza. Even if he starts the 7th, he likely won't finish it. Provided Lester and the pen can keep things intact, this game is still very much wide open. This is what a Game 7 should be!

Thanks. I think a big part of the low participation was that I went WAY into uncharted territory. I built this from music on my laptop, and did it to get it done and going as quickly as possible. I still think it was a good test, but I can see why a lot of people wouldn't guess. But I figured I'd at least get that sort of feedback.
