  1. I don't know the Scandi site, but here's another Japanese collector's site. Unfortunately there's a lot of oblique shots, but still a great resource. http://sekihei.hp.infoseek.co.jp/backnumber.htm
  2. This may be on the radar already, but it's about as good as it gets for album art (front and back), with a ton of DSM. http://www.gokudo.co.jp/Record/10inRec/index.htm
  3. I'm happily set up with a Radio Shack 9v preamp, but has anybody tried this option? http://www.amazon.com/Ion-iTTUSB-Turntable...9652&sr=8-1
  4. I got in to him through his work with Brötzmann, which led to a ton of other great discoveries. Great thing is that there are so many quality tapers around, and the guy never sits still. I get new stuff almost weekly, and I dig it all. Dime seems to be the best place for shows, but if somebody else knows about more please share! I also would recommend the Alchemia set. Even without the killer packaging it's great stuff. You know, if you're a philistine...
  5. My apologies if this has already been posted, but there's an absolutely smoking Quintet gig posted at Dime: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=110797 A little over 3gb download, and I'll be seeding for another week or so. _______________________________________________________ Ken Vandermark Quintet - Poznan, Poland, Nov 20, 2005 DVD (PAL) Ken Vandermark, bs, cl Dave Rempis, reeds Kent Kessler, b Fred Lonberg-Holm, cello Jim Daisy, dr sorry, no setlist, please help if you can identify the tunes TT: 1:14:37 Source: Digital Satellite -> raw data to HDD, > ProjectX > MPEG2Schnitt > TMPGEnc DVD Author > Video_ts; audio is 2 channel MP2@384 (!) No conversion of any kind - this is the actual very hq broadcast signal!
  6. Shapiro's "Midnight Minyan" is a real corker, too.
  7. Ken Vandermark has it on his site as well. Very sad. http://www.kenvandermark.com/
  8. If this has been covered, I apologize. http://blogs.chicagoreader.com/post-no-bil...parent-suicide/
  9. I use a Radio Shack 9v Phono preamp and Roxio CD Spin Doctor straight into my G5. Define the tracks (if needed, it's got an auto setting), send the tracks to Toast for burning or iTunes. I don't use any of the Spin Doctor clean up or eq, and I'm very happy with the results.
  10. I wouldn't worry too much, since if you're listening at "office levels" you're not going to be pushing much bass. You may want to baffle the walls around it just for the sake of politeness, however, as it can move some air. I use mine at home, with some cheap sub-less Advents or some such at work, so I can't answer to well... I do recommend them though.
  11. I've got the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 and am very happy.
  12. I've got a lot of Enoch Light/Command stuff, and the 35mm does indeed sound the best - gimmick or not.
  13. KKJZ recently switched to HD... could this have anything to do with it? It seems to be a fairly recent occurrence, though I haven't really been tracking it. I was under the impression that satellite was more "self contained". Obviously I know nothing about it, and thanks to all for the info.
  14. Jazztrain: That's what I was after. Thanks for doing the legwork... Indestructible: I thought I was losing it too. Wonder what's happening in those areas?
  15. This is a general question, but I've included some location specifics for anybody in the LA area... Every day when driving to (5am) and from (3pm) work and listening to 88.1 fm, I get some "bleed" from Howard Stern's satellite broadcast. Usually only a few seconds and always in the same two areas - Westwood/Sepulveda Pass and 405/118 interchange. I don't know much of anything about broadcasting, but is it because 88.1 is the first available fm frequency, and satellite broadcasts somewhere below that? I'll get a bit of static, 3 to 5 seconds of yammering, then static, then back to kjazz. What the hell? Thanks.
