  1. Judgment and Smokestack are already out there as JRVGs. Plainly for those of us who have everything else by Hill this box will be a priority, if only in the sense that there is no more Hill to hear. But plainly if, at the time of One for One, the unreleased material was judged less interesting than the string quartet sides, then maybe it just isn't that interesting. A set for the collector who already has everything, maybe? My sense is that people with the spare $$$ should get on to Hiroshi if they don't have Judgment and Smokestack in any version. Anyway I am not dissing this issue - I'll buy it. PS I am sure there is other Hill material (non-BN) which has never made it to CD. AFAIK California with Love was never issued after the original LP. Have you ever heard 'Les Trinitaires? I have never even seen it.
  2. Good news discographically, and bound to be at least interesting musically, but the One for One not-yet-on-CD stuff is not really a priority, to be honest, and the stuff that was less good than what got on the LP might not be that thrilling. Folks who don't yet have all the issued BN LPs should probably be wishing for those.
  3. A musician friend of mine once said that he personally knew the people in every one of his favorite bands. And that included me! (need a blushey, false-modesty smiley here...)
  4. Thanks Brad. Actually I saw this thread, but there is no direct claim that masterings were stolen. Clementine says (in this thread) that Proper used 'the work' of other companies in two cases, but does not list others and does not specify which work. Did they use the remasterings? Or did they just use the editorial concept? The Propers I have are all remastered by them. They have put out some pretty convenient sets.
  5. Which Proper sets are ripped off? Any? Maybe I missed a trhead.
  6. The ZYX sets have the same masterings as the US edition. The US sets just COST more.
  7. I love a good countdown. Still on the site...
  8. My LP is mono. Is the CD mono or stereo?
  9. Speaking of Wes, how much of his live stuff has had any kind of circulation? I have one live LP on Charly which has a fantastic version of Here Comes That Rainy Day. The whole recording has a little bit more life about it than the Riversides I have heard, even the live (Tsubo [?]) Riverside.
  10. Not even Django? Or Wes? I suppose my recommendations of Keiji Haino have had no impact? Wow. I pressed the 'Quote' button but I think I should have hit 'Report!'
  11. heh heh well, we have to put up with all their silly record titles!
  12. I don't agree there. CD reissues of vinyl will eventually lose their value as the material they contain becomes cheaply available in streaming media, perhaps with downloadable artwork and notes. LPs on the other hand will still be original artefacts and will not lose value, at least where the condition is good and the artist is collectable. Ok a bit off topic I know. As far as Moscaic goes, the real benefit of these sets always was to be able to hear material from several original vinyl issues without having to pay the likely cost of even one of those issues if bought in auction. The music is not always good because the emphasis is on completeness. These are aimed at collectors who want to own it all but access selectively. Few of the sets are in that sense indispensable. All that is fine and as it should be, but there is no point in expecting hours of gems from lesser artists (often in their lesser periods).
  13. When are we going to get back to Funny Rat? Sometimes you people really get off topic. How do you think the Brotzmeister and the uberHanosan would feel if they came to check out their thread?
  14. I've got the Atlantic one - is that different?
  15. This film is so bound to be over the top - I'm not sure i could stomach it.
  16. I can hardly believe this set is coming. I am delighted!!!!
  17. If you will only be satisfied by 'proof' one way or the other, then you will never be satisfied, and you can't really ask others to take responsibility for your decision at this level. My best guess is that resale value of copy protected CDs will be lower, because distrust of the technology is likely to become widespread as more and more people put them into PCs and car stereos, and audiophile collectors won't touch them. Before long this technology will be superseded and disks carrying this technology will look old fashioned and undesirable.
  18. I registered so that I could post on the copy protection thread. I know that some (perhaps more naturally subservient?) posters think that all complaining is just whining, but I wouldn't drink new flavor coke and I won't swallow this either.
  19. You know what? There's a new site there, all unspoiled and tempting... my trigger finger is itching...
  20. I'd like to have the vinyl. True Blue advertised a Japanese vinyl of this in their catalogue, but when I asked them for it they couldn't supply it. I am hoping there are still copies out there, somewhere...
  21. On the plus side, BNBB Europe could be a useful place to vent about copy control. I was also thinking that, since we know where all the old BNBB material is in cyberspace, I would sign up under all of the old handles and then painstakingly reconstruct the old board by entering every single post individually on BNBBE, time delayed by five years, day by day, so 14 Feb 1999 becomes 14 Feb 2004 and so on day after day... It could work! Don't all rush to help me.
  22. Hey! We haven't all got the patience to track down all the OOP TOCJ!! My Sam Rivers' vinyls all sound pretty good though. (Actually they are all shot but I can't let on to that now, can I?) PS It is very important to talk down the merits of TOCJ -- otherwise we end up talking up the market value. Seriously, my only point is to remind people that titles they seem to yearn for are only an email away.
