  1. LBJ could score 50 a night on 70% shooting on the Spurs would still have a great chance of winning the series. As important as his defense is, it is absolutely nothing compared to the roles of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker. And 4 out of 9 championships, with a good chance for more, is a dynasty.
  2. Even the side tent performers tend to be pretty well known in most circles. Hell, little known Norah Jones was one of those side performers at the first one. As hip as Organissimo might be, there is a level of general popularity and buzz that Bonnaroo is looking for.
  3. The only time Jesus is mentioned at Bonnaroo is when people are openly mocking him. I've been all 5 years so far. Of course, the year I decide not to go they have a jazz club! Additionally. Ornette Coleman and James Blood Ulmer are playing (although not together...maybe) Should be an amazing time. Don, I am not sure whet the hell you are talking about or where you get your information from. Im guessing you have earned a few too many trips to the medical tent. As for where they get the money? How about 80,000 people spending 200 bucks a ticket?
  4. The National is still EASILY my fave of the year so far. Been listening to alot of Built to Spill lately. I really enjoyed You in Reverse, although I know it wasnt widely accepted by the fans.
  5. Haha. I was actually camping. Thankfully I didnt get to watch the game, and relied on phone call updates from friends. We need to get Larry Brown back. If that doesnt happen, trade sheed for a pick, and try to rebuild. Rip, Tay, and Chauncey are still young enough for another run in a year or two. Maxiel and Amir Johnson look like studs, and we have two picks already. If it wasnt for 04, this would have been the most frustrating 3 seasons ever.
  6. I've heard the entire album and think it is quite lame. Just an old guy going through the paces and not creating anything of any importance, or real quality for that matter.
  7. Was Larry Hughes fouled on his follow up? Bron should of passed it to Donyell in the corner, I think he was open.
  8. Which, if I am not mistaken, is the case. No doubt Zach is a tremendous offensive player, but the Blazers have had alot of problems with him over the year. I just noticed too, Travis Outlaw averaged 18 points a game over the last month of the season. I think Portland is in the same position the bulls were a few years ago. SO many great young guys. just waiting to grow up. I think they can do it next year. Although, on second though, with Zach it would be much much easier. Now that I think of it, a trade of Zach for Rashard would be perfect for both teams.
  9. Not sure what you mean by this statement. Both guys have been in the league for a while, they're known quantities. Guy Rashard in an unrestricted free agent, who becomes expendable as he basically doubles up many of Durant's strengths. With LeMarcus Aldridge coming on strong at the end of last season, and with Oden on the way, Randolph and his massive contract arent really needed in Portland. So in both situations I mean making a trade. Randolph to Chicago for their pick and/or some players would be a perfect situation for both teams. Patrick, Seattle and Portland both have some very decent players already. If Portland's guys just show some natural progression I think they can be VERY good immediately. Its impossible to overstate how important a defensive big man is to a team. Oden in his first year can be top defensively. They have apass first PG, a complete stud in Brandon Roy, and several other guys (Travis Outlaw, Martell Webster) who can take the next step with all the pressure off them. Durant will almost certainly score 20 a game next year, and will create a ton of matchup problems. Ray Allen will be Ray Allen, and Seattle has several other decent enough of guys to make them playoff contenders.
  10. Portland and Seattle are both playoff teams with the addition of Durant/Oden. They would have as good a chance as any 6-12ish team in the West. If Portland can turn Randolph into something, and is Seattle can turn Rashard into something, both have a great chance at vastly improving. Oden and Durant are both insane players. Outside of Dwayne and Lebron, they are easily the best to enter the league in the past 5 years.
  11. Cavs HAVE to win those games if they want any chance at all. Chauncey had about 76 turnovers, but there is no one in the game id rather have with the ball in the 4th quarter.
  12. It sure would be nice if on occasion the Pistons would actually try. They might even be a pretty good team then.
  13. Now the Bulls need just 3 more. Glad the pistons could atleast make a game out if it briefly in the fourth. Someone should tell Sheed that you are allowed to take shots within the 3 pt line.
  14. The last few years I spent in Detroit had some pretty lame lineups, but this one looks pretty great, although of course missing at least one band.
  15. Sports' fandom has nothing to do with a court of law though. Innocent until proven guilty is a fantastic thing, and something that MUST be rigorously adhered to in situations of criminal and civil misconduct. But this is simply about being a fan. Integrity, whatever that may mean, is something that plays a role in our enjoyment of sports. The preponderance of the evidence is frankly overwhelming, and it is enough to have an effect. And isn't in an absolute that he took the cream and the clear? He claims to have not know it as steroids. Um, ok fine. But there is NO DOUBT he took steroids. Bonds was a great home run hitter before steroids, as well as a great hitter afterwards. How many tainted homeruns does it take to make a record worthless? For me, it is one. Still, Bonds stats aren't nearly as tainted as Babe Ruth's, and I think it is a little insane that we are so critical of the steroids era, while the segregation era, which was worse by a factor of about, oh, infinity, is still looked upon fondly.
  16. I think the Bowen think is like the Imus thing. Maybe not the worst thing ever, but thanks to a LOOOOOOOONG and brutal track record, it is inexcusable. Bruce Bowen should be out of the league.
  17. Bruce Bowen? Dirty. No way. http://youtube.com/watch?v=jAakQjpFibg
  18. Tough loss for the Warriors, in every conceivable way. Next two games are Oakland, they NEED to win both, and I dont think there is a person in America that doesnt think they can do it.
  19. Well we all know Sheed will never get a fair shake (6 fouls in 18 minutes, including a few 'standing is now a foul' calls)
  20. Indeed. And I wont be happy until the series is done. Just noticed an interesting stat, Pistons won by 21, but Bulls had almost 30 more free throw attempts. Can you imagine if the game had been called more evenly? (not to say the foul calls weren't fair, just that clearly the pistons got called alot more often.)
  21. Pistons look good, but there is no way their shots keep fallin like that forever. Chicago's depth, the way the young kids will feed off the crowd, and their utter dismantling of the Heat still scare me a bit. The need a win in the next two, i hate being nervous in round two.
  22. I know you meant rebounds :-) Van Gundy out as coach. Maybe they can sign Stan? Id go after Larry Brown if I were them.
  23. 15 assists a game from Boozer would be amazing. I feel bad for Tmac, he played his heart out and has really turned into a GREAT team player. They are still only one low post banger away from a title. Youd think a 7'6'' Yao could fill that role, but he gets abused down low. An even remotely good point guard would go a LONG way too.
