July 18th lTwo sets l $10.00 per set l 8pm & 9:30pm Steve Baczkowski (saxophones) & Bill Nace (guitar) with special guest Tamio Shiraishi (saxophone) http://www.jackny.org/ Steve Baczkowski (reeds) met drummer Chris Corsano in 2002, jammed at an old Buffalo, N.Y. ice factory, and went on to play together in various formations ever since: duo, trio with Paul Flaherty (The Dim Bulb, 2005, Wet Paint) and also a quartet with Flaherty and Tony Conrad. Bill Nace (guitar) met Steve in a town famous for hockey sticks, & first played together in a converted ice rink (along with Corsano as part of Thurston Moore's Dream Aktion Unit) and eventually formed a duo (Live in Buffalo, 2010, 8mm). Corsano, Nace and Baczkowski toured as a trio in 2012 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDzN5frBeJM) and released Live at Spectacle (2013, Open Mouth) as a quartet with trumpeter Greg Kelley. Baczkowski lives in Buffalo, N.Y. where he works as a conduit for creative music of any & every sort. In addition to organizing the Buffalo Improvisers Orchestra, and the Buffalo Suicide Prevention Unit, he also performs solo, in duo with Ravi Padmanabha, Bill Sack, Nola Ranallo & Omar Tamez and in ensembles such as Organ Donor, The 12/8 Path Band, Rey Scott's Unusually Different, Necrophonia, William Parker Trance Quartet and frequent collaborations with like-souled folks from around the world. Baczkowski first performed with saxophonist Tamio Shiraishi after midnight in the Spring St. subway station in Manhattan on July 13, 2012: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xX8a7wIU61Y Bill Nace is one of the premiere avant-garde guitarists active today. He has one of the most personal and unique pallets of sound ever to be culled from an electric guitar. Nace creates a distinct, mind-bending cacophony and focuses his textures with intense precision and control. He works under various guises, solo, a duo with Paul Flaherty, Body/Head with Kim Gordon, Northampton Wools with Thurston Moore, Ceylon Mange (with Dylan Nyoukis and Karen Constance) and more. http://openmouthrecords.blogspot.com/ Tamio Shiraishi is a NYC-based Japanese saxophonist and vocalist born in 1949. A founding member of the legendary noise unit Fushitsusha (along with Keiji Haino), saxophonist Shiraishi has had a storied career performing alongside some of the world's most significant contemporary artists. An intense and uncompromising musician, his sound is absolutely his own - conjuring an otherwordly spectrum of vibration that is simultaneously extreme and delicate. In the US, he has performed with Crash Worship, No Neck Blues Band and many more. He currently performs in subway stations after midnight. 11. Congrats and best of luck. I have another CD with Joëlle Léandre and enjoyed it. I'd be interested in this, though it would help if there were short sound clips. Also, I didn't really feel like working through registration to figure out shipping costs. What will it be for shipping to the US, specifically Chicago? Thanks. Eric Shipping anywhere in the US is included in the price, $15. You can also buy it at DMG, Squidco, Jazzloft, or Discogs. Kevin

  13. Looks interesting! http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:wbfwxz9kldhe
  14. Anyone willing to part with their copy of this? Drop me a pm. Thanks, Kevin
  15. Rudresh has a new release on Pi as well called Kinsmen.
  16. I find the whole idea to be silly. "I want to hold your hand" has all the sophistication its title suggests. No qualitative distinction from "Last Train to Clarksville".

Fresh, Tricks of the Trade and Bodies and Soul are all fine leader dates that I enjoy.
  18. Looking for this two disk set. Willing to pay reasonable price. Thanks
  19. nessa-16 Charles Tyler "Saga of the Outlaws" (out of print)
  20. I have been listening to this all day. I've had a cdr transfer of a my vinyl for a few years now, I know and love this music. It's an all time favorite of mine and it changed the way I hear music. Thanks for these bonus tracks, they are a revelation. Right now I keep listening to the two studio bonus cuts from Chicago. This stuff sends me into a trance. 4. "Sing" and 5. "Improvisation 2" are lost gems. Thanks Chuck. Let us know when you start taking orders for the Tyler!
  21. Amazing reissue Chuck. The sound is pristine. What's next? The Tyler? Kevin
  22. Thanks Chuck. I already own nearly all of it. For $15 it was tough to pass up. The packaging is poor, there are no liner notes and it could have fit on 5 discs.
  23. The ebay description is misleading. I believe these are all early public domain recordings, it is not a "Best of" collection. I would like to know the session info for the discs in this set. The recoding quality varies a bit. I am unable to easily match the tracklisting to the Monk sessionography. Disc ten is a tribute to Monk. CD 1 Recollections (W. Thomas) 2:41 Flyin’ Hawk (W. 24. Is there any way to locate a comprehensive tracklisting, recording dates, and personnel of this box? Thanks
  25. If I wanted to just bitch, I would have posted my complaint on the other forum you're also selling on. Your timeline is deceptive. Your initial reply with your paypal email and shipping costs was Dec 26 2007, 09:58 PM Eastern time. You received my payment Dec 28 2007, 11:53 AM Eastern time. Yeah I got the refund, $14.26 after paypal fees. You don't mention that I also contacted you in the interim on the other forum you're selling on. I have every right to be pissed. You read the original post, there's no mention of paypal and you do not provide an email contact. You're blaming me? This is my fault? This was a misunderstanding due to a notification delay issue on the board but learn a lesson. Don't be such an eager beaver to get the cash, especially when you've been contacted through two different forums and received the buyer's personal email. You knew I was going to feel screwed thus the apologies and the special offer. I bought the disc from Newbury Comics at Amazon new and shrinkwrapped for $1.26 more than your $15.00 deal. This board has always been a reliable, no nonsense place to buy music for me with none of the bullshit you run into at ebay, half.com and sellers at Amazon. I have never posted anything negative. By reasonable standards, my payment was timely if not prompt.
