    Toots Thielemans

Some of the standards material probably from this: The Sound Other bits from Chez Toots (released by Private Music, which was bought by BMG, now owned by Sony). I've ordered this set. Posting this research on here in case anyone other than me finds it useful.

Thanks. It looks like a nice, eclectic selection. Looks like the Rogier van Otterloo tracks come from these albums: Slow Motion Moods
  5. Now you can only fill your boots with boots. Yep, I posted it in the wrong thread. Although they are all European Universal projects since Uni handles Concord and the Verve family over here.
  6. More difficult. I don't think Concord has ever licensed anything to Mosaic. Nor have they re-released much of their considerable archive.
  7. Me too. I missed the boat on the complete Phillips box set. I like his song choices. BTW any remarks on Rita Reys would also be appreciated.
  8. New releases: Jacques Loussier Crusaders Chuck Mangione Dave Grusin Rita Reys Stan Getz George Benson Klaus Doldinger
  9. Broadly what I meant by legit is that the company behind the CD owns the master tapes and has put a bit of effort into the results, ie, it will sound good. I'd like the material but not if it's going to sound like it was recorded on a portable cassette player from the back of the stalls.
  10. I didn't know about this label but it looks legit. Is it? And how's the sound?
  11. I read this a few weeks ago. An interesting book. Reminded me of The Killer Inside Me in its psychopathic narrator. I haven't seen the Nicholas Ray film.
  12. If this is the first time that Columbia or Sony has released this material then I don't have it, so this is a good release for me. I was expecting future bootlegs to be all-electric, which I'm not much into (especially when Miles is concerned).
  13. Just picked up my Savoy set from the post depot -- with an eye-watering (and spouse-rousing) customs charge of more than £36! Unusually, Mosaic (or their outsoursed shipping company) declared the full value on the box. When the customs is in itself as much as the cost of another box set I have to question the validity of buying these. Oh well, only a few (plus the Teddy Wilson) to go...
  14. Agreed. It is variable, however. Some sessions sound better than others. Still, happy to have it.
  15. It's a useful set covering a lot of material inexplicably not released to CD by Verve's American wing. The sound quality is variable, however.
  16. I have both box sets and while I can detect a difference in the mastering on the new set (a little warmer) I wouldn't say it is worth a repurchase simply because the original box also sounded very good. If you are happy with the versions you own I'd stick with those.
  17. Thanks for this. It's pretty much what I expected and my strategy is also to buy a set a month until I have all I want. All I wonder is if "make things go for a few more years" means: release new sets for a few more years. I hope so! I'll preorder the Wilson. I've loved his music almost since I started listening to jazz so its imminent release is a dream come true for me.
  18. As I say in the other "death of Mosaic" thread, if production of the Teddy Wilson set is far enough down the line it may make financial sense to see it through. I'm optimistic enough to believe that we could see a few more new sets beyond that one for the same reason.

  20. Kevin's point is that since Mosaic owns the Benedetti recordings the set should be available in perpetuity. To me its imminent deletion is the clearest sign yet that Mosaic is winding down.
