  1. Can I ask what the band is on those recordings? Miles seemed so comfortable and was always very much himself regardless of setting...at least based on my listening experience. My playlist of Ron Miles tunes as a leader/sideman is 272 songs strong and it/he is consistently excellent.
  2. This is so sad. I spent last year on a huge Ron Miles kick. From his own stuff to Ben Goldberg to Frisell to Triology. I found his work with saxophonist Fred Hess (who was also based in Colorado) to be very satisfying. I also recommend his work on "Music Along the Way" by Rich Lamb.
  3. Hello- I received a copy of this from importcds and it was missing disc #9. Anyone else has a problem or did I just manage to get lucky for a change? ;(
  4. The booklet gives and overview of each night/set and identifies particular performances which seemed to transcend others. There are also a couple of tunes that were played just once. I too had the same idea of paring it down to my own "set" and was going to use the recommendations in the liner notes as a starting point.
  5. As a teenager I had about 40-50 albums. I knew all the tunes, the writers, producers, track lists, etc. Southern rock, Black Sabbath, Ted Nugent, Mountain, foghat, Dixie Dregs, and others. Fast forward forty years and I have more music that I can ever hope to absorb at that same level. Sometimes more than I can keep track of. Although I keep things filed alphabetically I still end up buying something that I already have about once a year. I was on a big Graham Collier kick a few years back. I tried it and I liked it so I got all of it that I could...then it was on to the next thing. It's nice to have so much to go back to, but unfortunate that there just isn't enough time to listen in and to really do so with justice. A recent upgrade of my system has me listening intently and with purpose more often once again. Otherwise I had fallen into a pattern of collecting followed by a cursory listen or even worse...relegating new stuff to background music waiting for something to jump out and grab me. It used to be the other way around. Sigh.
  6. I'd have to revisit it. I have all of the Collier BGO titles and I don't recall their being a clunker in the bunch. I enjoy that stuff that straddles being in/out. I'll have to listen again soon.
  7. I downloaded the BGO title from iTunes. Graham Collier as I recall was involved with putting the music up on that platform. It was a "three-fer" that also includes "Portraits" and "The Alternate Mosaic." Since I already purchased it iTunes won't tell me the price, but it was certainly much better than the prices of the physical CD on the secondary market. I too would prefer the CD as some point, but my wallet won out as the voice of reason because I'm not typically a downloader.
  8. 'Twas I. I had a number of classical boxes listed as well. PM me for details if you're still interested...I'm on the cusp. I didn't import the live stuff, but I think that I will if I choose to sell.
  9. This is pretty much the same list as last year. I ended buying a dozen or more discs and paying $30 in shipping. I enjoyed the music but not the exorbitant shipping charge. I see that DD says he can address that this year.
  10. Mayall Box Set Video The video put me over the top. Lavish? Yup. Expensive? Yup. Lots and lots of listening enjoyment to be had? Yup. Import CDs Link
  11. Great news. Thanks. If you'd like to PM me with the particulars that would be wonderful. I'm very excited. I also happen to have a stockpile of empty jewel cases from my days in retail music, so if you send along a jewel case in need of replacement I can take care of it. Thanks again! James
  12. Hi- Just checking in to see if a determination has been made. Thanks! Hi. Just checking in... Thanks!
  13. I see you posting in the Fleetwood Mac thread. I ordered the box set as well. But I also have the original classics package which includes five of the albums on the set. Fleetwood Mac Original Album Series Once my new set arrives, I'd be willing to offer this to you. I doubled up to get the Bob Welch records, which by themselves are pricey. Just a thought. Thanks for keeping me in the loop too. I appreciate it.
  14. It turns out that I have less to trade than I thought...only because when confronted with the notion of parting with something my compulsion to collect and be a completist kicked in and suddenly I wasn't so sure that I could get rid of much, I too have passed a point of reasonably accommodating music and have in the past year or two taken to strategically stacking larger sets and jewel case sized box sets so as to make room for individual CD titles on my music walls. That said, listen and let me know. My interest in acquiring these early Zorn titles remains. Thank you.
  15. I'm looking to amass the entire set so if you choose to part with 4-10 I'm well on my way along with having recently obtained Alef. Take your time and let me know what you decide. I'd be happy to make a contribution to the board's upkeep costs. I could also offer up some trade bait, but if you're looking to downsize that rather defeats the purpose... Thank you. James
  16. I’ve dabbled with Zorn for a while. I recently got Alef and I’m now interested in getting the rest of the titles by the original group. So I’m wondering if anyone is interested in selling small lots or individual titles. I know they’re all on Discogs, but I thought that I’d float it here. Thanks in advance. 17. Perhaps this is a delayed result of Costanza's hard work on the Penske file...
  18. I too ordered as soon as I saw the email on 4/30. My credit card was charged on 5/3. Mosaic claims that cards will not be charged until an item is ready to ship. I have yet to receive a shipping confirmation. I paid extra for UPS and I have a UPS account which alerts me of scheduled deliveries. So even if I missed the shipping notification email which came from an odd email address, UPS would be keeping me in the loop. So at this point I got nothing, although I remain hopeful, even quietly confident that Mosaic will come through.
  19. I didn't use Paypal but I have this feeling that I was charged before my item was ready to ship. I trust Mosaic so no real worries, just anticipation.
