  1. I've had the "Skip Dr." for number of years and when called upon it has always done the job. It was about $15 at the FYE store in the mall way back when.
  2. $82 including shipping to preorder through importcds.com I'm in. importcds.com
  3. My set was well packed also...a little slow arriving but the packing box was slathered in tar and put into a plastic bag. Clearly no fault of the seller. What matters were the contents and they were in excellent condition due to having been packed so well. Thanks.
  4. Brand new, still sealed. I ended up with two. $25 shipped to CONUS addresses. Thanks.
  5. PM Sent on Various Artists - Atlantic New Orleans Jazz Sessions - MD4-179 - $65
  6. I received my iPod back yesterday. The gentleman who did the work was very good about communicating with me. At my request he did not put Rockbox on my iPod. He also completed the work and returned my unit more quickly than advertised. The iPod came back with 462 GB of space available on it. As per instructions which were included I synced songs in groups of just over 4,000. It was explained that the sync process generates some heat and that the process can also use up the battery (which he replaced) more quickly than it can be replenished/charged so syncing groups of more than 5,000 songs is discouraged. Starting at 4:30 PM, the last of 12,460 songs (260 GB) finished syncing at 11:00 PM. This is much faster than the couple of times that I had to restore the iPod in its original configuration- which took almost 48 hours. The majority of my files are also saved into iTunes as Apple Lossless (ALAC) and I synced them as such. In order to fit them into the 160 GB drive I had iTunes downsample (?) files down to 256 KB. I didn't notice an appreciable difference in having done so, but I like having my lossless files back. It appeals to the wisp of audiophile in me. I listened last night and I've been listening this morning as well. The iPod seems to be working fine, I went in and changed settings and menus to my preference with no worries. All in all I'm very pleased. I have separate iPod Classics for rock, classical, and blues. The rock and classical are both near capacity and I recently downsized the files in the rock device to get extra space. I upgraded this iPod for repair purposes, but based on this experience I wouldn't hesitate to do it with my rock iPod for no other reason to get the extra space. There is a 1 TB option but it is over $500 and that just might be too much space and money. 512 GB for $250 might just be my sweet spot.
  7. I am a little late to this topic, but browsing through the comments I didn't see this mentioned. My iPod classic was going and the folks at the Apple store told me that I could have the mechanical hard drive replaced with "flash" memory which is in thumbdrives, etc. After doing some research I opted for a gentleman who does this work and offers his product/service on ebay. I'm going to have my memory nudged from 160 GB to 512. Here is his blurb: This listing is for an upgrade service to upgrade your 6th (needs Rockbox, which I install) or 7th generation iPod classic. You send in your iPod and I will replace your existing traditional HDD with a 512GB Samsung based SSD and Tarkan iFlash adapter, and a new battery. All 7th gen iPods (160GB thin) are compatible. 6th generation(80,120,160GB Thick) iPods are compatible but require the installation of Rockbox in order to bypass apples 128GB limit. Please feel free to make an offer! An SSD will be faster, lighter and more durable than the stock HDD. The biggest advantage to the SSD over even an HDD is that there are no.moving parts, so durability is greatly improved. The adapter I use in this upgrade is also known for its reliability and the most recommended for iPod upgrades. The SSD should offer comparable battery life to the original drive. We actively update our prices in order to ensure you are getting the best possible deal. Feel free to make offers too. See someone offering it cheaper? As long as it is confirmed they're using the same memory as us we will match or beat the price! PLEASE NOTE: Due to some reports of reliability issues with SSDs we are beginning to phase over to primarily SD card based upgrades. These usually offer better battery life and better stability with iTunes as they use. The SD upgrades use class 10 high speed SD cards. Please note that with this upgrade, there will be an approximate limit of 35,000 to 50,000 tracks, depending on your iPod model (the exact limit will vary depending on how much metadata your iPod uses but should be within a few thousand of these numbers). This limit is a result of iTunes database size and the amount of RAM available in the iPods, not a result of the flash upgrade. Please see below for compatibility: Ebay link I'm excited to have triple the space and optimistic that this will work. Replacement iPod Classics seem to now be over $400 for the most part. I offered $249 and he accepted my offer.
  8. Ordered with ease for a change...absent were the problems which plagued earlier box set releases. !5,000 copies takes the edge off as well. I'm a little light on '73-74 stuff. Looking forward to this one.
  9. Amazon recommended these titles to me. They appear to be on the Phono label...which I guess is one the the European labels which finds little love here. They boast 24 bit remastering and booklets. I'm very interested. Thoughts? Joe's Blues Featuring Grant Green Featuring Les Spann & Mundell Lowe "Blue Hodge" "Mess of Blues" Featuring Kenny Burrell "Con Soul Jazz" & "Wild Bill is the Boss"
  10. They've become a favorite of mine. Trying to patch their stuff together was tough with so much stuff out of print. After this I need look no further. Andy Powell adds, "It’s truly amazing to look back at the musically fertile 1970s and 1980s and wonder at the sheer amount of incredible creative output from our band. We had great roots and a really strong blueprint for success. 11. I don't have a lot of Armstrong so at first glimpse this seems worthwhile. I'm ok with a few alternates, etc. at the end of discs 1-3 but disc four holds zero interest. For completists only...? 12. I occasionally buy lottery tickets as gifts, and as one who charges almost everything to enjoy rewards points, I came learn that here in New York state they are a cash only purchase.
  13. Hi- I apologize for not updating this post but this item has sold. Sorry.
  14. Amazon says "Holland." I'm not sure if I should spring for this set or get the two five-CD classic album sets. Forty bucks vs. ninety. How much Weather Report do I need? I have "Weather Report" and I find it interesting having just revisited it. I'm interested to know if the new set includes a book or expanded CD liner notes.
  15. Box set it now showing as unavailable on Amazon. Gone is the release date of 11/3 info and the price of $89.99. Hmmm...
  16. I buy myself the Dave's Picks subscription for Christmas every year. It is the sure-fire way to be sure you don't get closed out of any of the titles, particularly given how unreliable the website is during times of high traffic/demand. So far I have found the series to be good. I tend to go for up to around '77 or '78 but I've been revisiting the Branford show from Spring '90 and I think I might have a burgeoning interest in some of the later stuff...although I'm not sure that I'll ever warm up to the stuff that features Brent on lead vocals.
  17. Yesterday morning I inadvertently marked the Mosaic and other Box Set thread as "read." It is now shaded out and I can't seem to figure out how to undo this action. Compounding my confusion is the fact that it appears as though there has been no activity on this thread since 6:07 AM yesterday...which seems weird. It seems unlikely that no one has posted in this thread or any of its sub-threads in the last 30 hours. Will this thread return to normal when someone posts to it? Thanks for your help.
  18. $88 Opened but played just once. Everything is excellent/mint. Ships free w/delivery confirmation in the continental 48. Paypal or Amazon gift card.
  19. I don't that there is anything "intellectually dishonest" about having a different perspective, viewpoint or response to the trials and tribulations that may or may not have been a part of dealing with Mosaic and their recent shipping situation. From what I am reading, some people (myself included) just don't see it as a deal-breaker or reason to get their knickers in a twist. Their subcontracting of shipping has proven to been less than ideal. I don't think that anyone has really disagreed with that. We all have the opportunity to "vote" with our wallets. To lambaste them as such and continue to do business with them seems like a recipe for frustration, disappointment, and anger on your part.
