The above is from an ECM press email that went around today. Anyway, so sad. Been enjoying his East West recordings lately thanks to the recent reissues. A marvelous player and glad that we have his recordings to savor. Forever.

It also sucks that you are such a miserable person that you feel the need to troll every thread about audio and add your "knowledge" to an otherwise useful exchange.

I have had Sonos systems for years (a few connects, Sonos Controller, Bridge, S5 (now Play:5) etc). Obviously, the hi rez and 65K limit is a bummer to me given my very large collection and interest in audio. That being said, it is awesome and has increased my enjoyment of music quite significantly (and my wife loves it so that's a nice plus). Of course, it is not inexpensive. To answer the question about the BN branded PLAY:1, I did not buy it because I have no use for it and further, I see it as a cash grab. Regardless, I have a couple of friends that have one and are mightily impressed with the sound from such a small device. PS I would "like" Peter's post above if we had that option.

Looks like HMV has some of these reduced as well (if I can only figure out how to order). Incidentally, anyone heard the complete Jazz Lab by our boy Jordi? I assume a rip off piece of crap?

Are you guys that have these very low total costs going for the cheap shipping option? The reason I ask is that I broke down and bought some of those SHM BN discs and shipping got a little pricey (bec I used fedex and wanted to be sure that all went well for my first order from them). Want to place a larger order but don't want to get killed on the shipping.

I have thrown about five different headphones at it and they all played fine. The headfi'ers claim that you can obtain better results with an amp but for my purposes, I have been mightily impressed with such a high value for a lower cost (I am not about to buy an A&K player). It also can be used as a DAC (like the Audioquest Dragonfly). No iTunes (and who needs it - all of the "upgrades" have made it a very disorganized mess). I cannot speak to Macs because I use Windows but you might want to head over to HeadFi. There is A LOT if discussion over there about this player.

I missed this series of posts before. I bought an X5 in July. A wonderful player. I love the GUI on the iPod (my classic is still kickin), which really cannot be beat, but as I mostly play albums all through (and really dig hi rez), I am very very happy and worth every penny.

Bringing this one back up - can anyone comment on the sound of the Loud Minority release? Curious for that one, as well as to whether I should track down their issue of Self-Determination Music when that comes out, as well as some of the Leon Thomas releases.

Joe Pass. For Django material. Noted that this set didn't get a lot of love around here but it really is a wonderful set. Having a Mosaic only week this week with a few breaks for Pass's Six String Santa and some other nuggets. Let's hope the Dial and Jordan are under my tree as that is what I am hoping for....
