  1. A beautiful lady doing her salsa (and short) version of a song
  2. “I’m trying to learn how to access things because, although I grew up on radio and record stores, that was a long time ago. I’m bumbling along.…But I think anyone would agree, no matter how much you’re old-school, that when you haven’t heard a song for 50 years, and you think, “How did that song go?”—and bang, there it is, right at your fingertips—that’s amazing. That could have taken six months to track down in the old days, though, arguably, that was a fun six months.” https://www.wsj.com/arts-culture/music/chrissie-hynde-pretenders-state-of-music-b346335c?st=k4yk3n2cr5mazih&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

  8. No young children keeping me awake - but I did stay awake many nights listening to an elderly relative (who has dementia) yell or talk throughout the night. There was always a young female nurse nearby, and I was there to help her lift the relative if necessary. I did not feel pity for myself, but I did wonder when wilI I be in bed with dementia, yelling throughout the night. By the way, there were also some brief occasional moments when the relative recognized me, and those moments were fantastic.
  9. I also do not blame him, but I stopped listening to Benson's albums when I saw the video of him roller skating on a sidewalk with a guitar in his hands (the video for his hit song, "Give Me the Night").
  10. If anyone would like to see, maybe as a comparison, Bill Graham tell a musician to get the hell out of his office, go to around the 9 minute mark of the movie Fillmore:
  11. The non-profit music library and research centre now contains more than 3m sound recordings or over 90m songs, making it one of the biggest popular music collections in the world... https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/nov/16/archive-of-contemporary-music-new-york
  12. Hearing "Peg" and "Hey Nineteen" over and over is what made me say goodbye to Steely Dan.
  13. I am sure I was not one of your students, but in high school I had a math teacher who listened to the Airto/Deodato version of "Do it Again." Sorry, nobody levitated.
  14. In case you have not heard: Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" won song of the year at the Country Music Awards. https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/08/entertainment/tracy-chapman-fast-car-cma/index.html

  17. The new release of the 1962-1966 album includes: “We Can Work it Out (2023 Mix) – from (2015 Mix)” – might be the first time I see something referred to as a mix from a mix. https://www.amazon.com/Beatles-1962-1966-2023/dp/B0CK57KYGG/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2PWSXIN8CZYMM&keywords=beatles+1962-1966+vinyl&qid=1698577533&sprefix=beatles+19%2Caps%2C116&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1
