I recommend Jazzology's Paramount reissues on their Black Swan Label. I stumbled across Jazzology's office while in New Orleans a few days ago and bought a couple of these. Great people and reasonable prices. Check them out at jazzology.com

I recently discovered several reissues of blues recordings from the vaults of King Records. There are 5 volumes in this series entitled "RISQUE BLUES". The artists include: Hank Ballard & the Midnighters, Billy Ward & the Dominoes, Roy Brown, Bull Moose Jackson, Wynonie Harris, and many others. They were recorded in the late 1940's and early 1950's. The lyrics are loaded with double entendres and the instrumental backings are great. Thoroughly enjoyable.

I understand the disappointment of some at the absence of original artwork in Mosaic reissues. However, when you consider the high quality of the remastering, the excellence of the large format booklet, the great photos and first class customer service ; the idea of a boycott is........wierd. Recently I took a chance on a 2 CD album from the BMG club because it was marked down to $3.99. "An Anthology of Big Band Swing 1930 - 1955". It covers 37 big bands that recorded for Decca. I can't stop listening to this. It's my first exposure to Jimmie Lunceford, Lucky Millander, Jay Mcshann and Andy Kirk; plus others I had never heard of like Noble Sissle and Spud Murphy. Now, I find myself listening to it daily. What a great find. I also find the Paul Chambers Mosaic Select very habit forming.

Having just read all of the comments of the last several days on this thread and at AAJ, the bottom line on this is pretty simple. The AAJ policy is a losing position for Mike Ricci. I am an infrequent poster here (signing up after the demise of the BNBB), but visit this site almost daily. I feel comfortable here. I lurk at the AAJ site about once a week. I remember some AAJ members expressing concern about an invasion of BNBB members when that board went down. Hence, I am much more comfortable here. Plus, IMHO I find the discussions here more interesting. I believe that Mike is learning that most all posters, including his "core" are put off by his policy. It is undermining what he is trying to build at AAJ. Ironically, he has done more to promote the Organissimo Forum than anyone could have imagined.

I too have had a problem with Airborne Express on a Mosaic order. Cindy at Mosaic was great to work with in resolving the problem. Turns out Airborne made errors in my name and address, which made it impossible to deliver the package. Mosaic is way too good in its products and services to use Airborne.

I am at 27 and plan to add many more. My upgrades are Wayne Shorter's "Speak No Evil" and Monk Vol 1 & 2. After comparing them to the older McMasters versions, I have no regrets. Usually I avoid repurchasing music so that my limited funds can go further in building my library. For those of you who have upgraded frequently, which are the biggest improvements?

The Jazz<ma>tazz site lists a September 23rd release date on Columbia/Legacy of a 4 disc set of the Count Basie Orchestra. The description: NEW Count Basie & his Orchestra America's # 1 Band - 4 CDs (Columbia/Legacy) Sept 23 — prime Basie from the '30s, '40s & '50s — features nearly a full disc of unreleased material Does anyone know any more details about this. It certainly sounds like good news.
