  1. This has to be a typo: *MS-17 Johnny Richards $6
  2. The continuous availability of the Hank Mobley set (not part of this sale, by the way) is even more remarkable. Yes, I wish I understood exactly what kind of license they have (no time limit, only quantity?) and why they can't produce more of the LP version.
  3. From what I've read, now that Mosaic has switched to booklets with the number pre-stamped on the back cover, as opposed to a handwritten number on the inside front cover at the time of shipment, the warehouse pulls a booklet off the shelf without regard to order, similar to how they used to ship Mosaic Selects when the Selects were numbered.
  4. Canadians Only: Contains all but 4 of the tracks from the Mosaic MD3-154 box (First Night Blues, Plum Nellie (Alt Tk), The Third Day, Cherokee) for a mere $5.99, Canadian iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/ca/album/the-incredible-jimmy-smith/id362651524
  5. Johnny Hodges - Complete Verve Small Group Sessions (1956-61), disc 1
  6. Not bad. I purchased mine from the same place for $11.74 with free shipping over 2 years ago. Usually when they have that many copies of a box set, it's essentially brand new except for them taking off the outer wrapper and scratching out the UPC.
  7. Dexter Gordon - Complete Prestige Recordings, disc 2 Happy Daddy's Day to me!
  8. J.J. Johnson - Complete Columbia Small Group Sessions, disc 1
  9. To go between kilobytes (or bits) and megabytes (or bits) you would use a 1,024 multiplier or divisor. So 17,106 kbps would be the same as 16.705 mbps. I don't know what the minimum acceptable throughput speed would be for youtube videos. I have the lowest tier of Roadrunner service and do just fine with youtube. Seldom will a video not load quick enough to keep up with playback. Perhaps I'm lucky. I had not heard about a rate change. I may be looking around myself. Time Warner is already too damn expensive.
  10. Thad Jones - Complete Blue Note/UA/Roulette Recordings, disc 1
  11. I used to have this problem. Then I found this product. It works embedded in Safari and FireFox. With Google Chrome, the audio file gets downloaded and automatically played in QuickTime. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player/wmcomponents
  12. Gerry Mulligan/Chet Baker - Complete Pacific Jazz & Capitol Recordings. One of my all-time favorite Mosaics!
  13. Just started this last night: The BIG Black Lie: How I Learned The Truth About The Democrat Party by Kevin Jackson
  14. I don't know, man. I'd go for the "Collectable-Like New" one listed for $855.85 on the marketplace side. Obviously there's something super special about it.
  15. Bizarro. The seller used a Buy-It-Now listing for $12. One time I snagged 3 OOP Mosaics for between $75 and $100 each through BIN. The guy was selling his late father's collection and didn't know any better. I just happened to be searching for sets right after he placed them up for auction.
  16. Thanks, guys! Nothing too special, it being a mid-week birthday and all. Still had to work, but my wife surprised me by washing my car before work, my slave-driving boss chewed me out for not taking the day off (imagine that), and I got to enjoy a steak dinner for once. Good times with the family!
  17. Art Pepper - The Hollywood All-Star Sessions Gotta admit, I haven't listened to this set much since I got it on the cheap over a year and a half ago. Sounds refreshing today.
  18. I'd like to read more about that. Got a link? That cracks me up to no end!
  19. I had the same problem. Tried various email addresses and never received the confirmation email. Finally started a GMAIL email account and all's well. I too had the same problem before, also maddening. Today I switched to a gmail account on a different browser and it worked, go figure. I still think not showing the price of the deal without a user account is dumb. Show an incredible price, get more people to sign up, no? Best deal around. The 15% off code is FF2011. $340 total! (the On the Corner metal box set alone sells for about 1/2, $170, anyway) Yesterday I did some individual set pricing on Amazon. You're right - the On the Corner set throws the comparison out of whack and makes the trumpet set more appealing, assuming you like Mile's jazz fusion era: Miles Davis and Gil Evans: The Complete Columbia Recording Sessions (6 CDs) --> $28 Miles Davis Quintet 1965-1968 (6 CDs) --> $49 The Complete Bitches Brew Sessions (4 CDs) --> $33 Miles Davis and John Coltrane: The Complete Columbia Recordings, 1955-1961 (6 CDs) --> $22 The Complete In A Silent Way Sessions (3 CDs) --> $35 The Complete Jack Johnson Sessions (5 CDs) --> $37 Seven Steps: The Complete Columbia Recordings of Miles Davis, 1963-1964 (7 CDs) --> $92 The Complete on the Corner Sessions (6 CDs) --> $153 (!!) One thing that strikes me as an issue: these metal box sets house the CDs in paper wrappers, which isn't the best way to preserve CDs without putting light scratches on the discs trying to extract them. I finally received my European version of the Miles and Coltrane set from Amazon and was pleasantly surprised to see the CDs encased in a digipak, like a DVD box set. I'd much rather have that.
  20. Benny Goodman - Complete Capitol Small Group Recordings (1944-55), disc 2
  21. Anyone willing to cough up a thousand bucks for a Dinah Washington Mosaic? Now's your chance! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270745813067
  22. I ordered mine from U.S. Amazon on April 2 for $21.51, as it was slightly cheaper with the free shipping. It was a preorder expected to be released on April 5. I'm still waiting for Amazon to ship it. They are "temporarily out of stock". Well, they never had stock to begin with. Meanwhile, the U.K. site has it 2 pounds cheaper at 10.99. If anyone is thinking about this set, I'd order it from there or one of the Amazon Marketplace sellers.
