  1. I didn't know he was a musician.
  2. For Mac folks, I recommend X Lossless Decoder (XLD) that allows you to decode/convert/play various 'lossless' audio files (FLAC is my favorite).
  3. Hey kids, is it Bandcamp Friday yet? Support your favorite artists. This has been the case for years. While you can purchase and download in flac, wav, etc., the same files stream at 128kbps, the same bitrate typically used for streaming music on high-end platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify.
  4. As Eric posted, "Maximum Swing: The Unissued 1965 Half Note Recordings is the first official release of the complete previously unissued recordings from jazz guitar giant Wes Montgomery with the Wynton Kelly Trio at the famed Half Note jazz club... I believe tranemonk is correct. Some tracks have been previously issued, albeit not authorized. "Maximum Swing" contains all of the radio broadcasts in one authorized release. Based on Resonance's track record and the quality of the bandcamp track "Four On Six", I think this will be a very enjoyable album, especially for us Wes-heads. CD Track Listing: CD 1 (Sept. 24, 1965) 1. Laura (6:57) 2. Cariba (8:47 3. Blues (3:19 * Paul Chambers, bass (Nov. 5, 1965) 4. Impressions (6:04) 5. Mi Cosa (3:33) 6. I Remember You (7:11) 3. No Blues (2:44) * Herman Wright, bass (Late 1965) 4. Cherokee (10:39) 5. The Song Is You (16:18) 6. Four On Six (10:45) 7. Star Eyes (15:31) 8. 5. And here I was thinking this thread was about Japanese sex toys. 😉
  6. Respectfully, I disagree. True, almost all of this music has been issued previously, but it was spread over three releases, two of which are long-deleted. Also, we have the opportunity to hear the title track as it was performed, not an edit with a different solo. As to the question of sound quality, why should we assume it would be lesser than what we've already heard, which is very good, imo.
  7. With all due respect, I don't believe the situation is as ominous as the OP might have you think. From the same source: Bandcamp’s new owner is the music marketing company Songtradr, which, according to its blog on the acquisition, will “continue to operate Bandcamp as a marketplace and music community with an artist-first revenue share.” Songtradr, which describes itself as a music licensing platform and marketplace company, framed the acquisition as an opportunity for Bandcamp artists to secure licensing deals ... For now, I'll be cautiously optimistic that things will be okay and perhaps even better in the future. And don't forget, next Friday (Oct. 6) is Bandcamp Friday. Go buy something and support an artist.
  8. Having enjoyed Shari Lewis and the much beloved Lamb Chop as a child, I was shocked to see that the latter has become a favorite chew toy for dogs. What the hell did the puppet do to deserve such treatment?! Drugs, booze, a scandal involving a Hollywood starlet? I LOVE the imagery!
  9. The Former Oasis Member Claims He Fell In Love With New Orleans, Famous For Its Jazz Culture, Following A Recent Trip To The City Despite Ranting About The Genre. Sep 23, 2023 AceShowbiz - Noel Gallagher reveals his desire to be laid to rest in a "jazz funeral" - despite ranting he hated the music. The former Oasis songwriter, 56, explained he made the decision after falling in love with New Orleans on a recent trip to the city famed for brass bands accompanying coffins when they are paraded through its streets. "I would want a jazz funeral. I went to one recently as a matter of fact – it was great. I think I made a mental note, 'I must have a jazz funeral.' And that would be a great name for a band!" Noel told his comedy writer friend Matt Morgan - who has been in headlines due to his past friendship and working relationship with sex abuse-accused comedian Russell Brand - on his Patreon podcast. Noel made the remarks despite spending years hitting out at jazz as "f****** nonsense." He said in 2015, "If you've never been to a jazz club, this is what happens at a jazz club - a jazz club is like four guys on stage enjoying themselves more than the 50 people in the audience." "That's what it is. They're all playing a different song, all at the same time, in different tempos, in different keys, and they call it jazz. It's f****** nonsense."
  10. NCIS is a guilty pleasure of mine. I've seen every episode numerous times. If there's nothing else on TV, or if the Red Sox are trailing by 8 runs or more, I'll watch an episode or two. McCallum's role as Dr. Mallard has always intrigued me more than any other character. When "Ducky" says, "That reminds me of the time ...." you can be sure something interesting would follow. Also, I found his practice of talking to and learning from the dead to be so respectful and caring. I'm sad, but grateful for McCallum's work.
  11. I wonder if "deluxe" means there's additional tracks on the CD set.
  12. Mr. Sangry, please take your paper back to your desk and correct any other misspellings.
  13. Arthur Blythe, alto sax; Bob Stewart, tuba; Chico Freeman, bass clarinet, percussion; Gust Tsillis, vibes, marimba; Arto Tuncboyaciyan, Josh Jones, David Frazier, percussion. Berkeley, CA, August 13-15, 1996. Clarity CCD 1016.
  14. If I hadn't done the search myself, and if it didn't yield useful results, I wouldn't have posted a response. Believe what you wish.
  15. Not trying to be clever, just showing how quick and simple it is to get the results you're looking for if you just put in a minimum of effort. I obtained a wealth of information in just a few minutes. Why should anyone take the time to find the answer if you can't be bothered to try yourself? And as far as "correcting the decade", you said "after 1980". To me, that means 1981, 1982, 1983 .... In other words, the 80s and beyond.
  16. Vinyl, CD and digital download available on Bandcamp.
  17. Florida man arrested after attempting to cross Atlantic in 'human-powered hamster wheel'
