Fantastic festive music!

This includes the beautiful christmas pieces by Michel Corrette.

I was old enough but was late due to traffic convulsions and couldn't get in the club. George Adams was wailing while we had to leave.

This afternoon I took a deep dive into Balbastre's music: ..... plus several single pieces from compilations.

The source for this version is by the James Moody Quintet, July 13, 1951 (Vogue LD036 , Roost 544) - at least that is what comments on th Prestige reissues say. But I just listened to the track on YouTube (which wrongly dates it in 1949) and understand your doubts. But there is no other Moody recording of that tune .... The liner notes of recent CD reissues are very helpful in this respect, as they state the source tracks for most of the King P?leasure recordings, especially the Blue Note CD which includes the UA LP plus one unreleased track: https://www.discogs.com/release/4578051-King-Pleasure-Moodys-Mood-For-Love I am working on a King Pleasure discography, to be published online in a few months, stating all the source tracks.

It's the version by Teddy Wilson & his Orchestra with Billie Holiday, May 11, 1937 (Columbia CL2487).

Seasonal music: David Erler is an excellent singer doing a lot of research in East German archives, e.g. he is resonsible for the new edition of Johann Kuhnau's sacred music, Bach' predecessor in Leipzig, and took part in the recordings.

That's a real treasure trove. I bought all the LPs and CDs when they were new, otherwise I would have jumped at the box. He was very positive about it in a recent interview, except for the inclusion of the Haydn Concertini with Koopman, which originally were on Phlilips and had noting to do with Musica Antiqua Köln. This spring his book on the Brandenburg Concertos was published which he wrote during the pandemic. He is the most knowledgeable musician of his generation.
