    Jim Beard

I see people reporting Jim Beard has passed away. Is it true? Peter Erskine tweeted this today: https://twitter.com/petererskine/status/1765432614176096261
  2. Holy cow, here it is! Black Narcissus starts at 2:21:40 https://playlist.citr.ca/podcasting/audio/2019/The-Jazz-Show-39170-154902-February-18-21-03-00.mp3
  3. Interesting thing about the "In Japan" album, it was 1st released in Japan under different title, "Henderson's Habiliment," which includes Black Narcissus that does not appear on western editions, but omits Out 'n In. Would be nice to see whole deal reissued. Funny the Japanese have not touched it even when their own top players are involved.
  4. Comparing the LP and CD, LP version omits 2 of 3 tracks with Surman/Skidmore/Thelin, Sunrise and Mato Grosso Feio. I wager they did not want to do it a 3 LP set, but come on, those are the tracks that make this concert unique. Especially Mato Grosso Feio, such a beautiful Shorter composition, something that would fit right in on Native Dancer album, and with this nice angular early Weather Report sound to boot. CD it is for me, I guess.
  5. ...And It's Again, last track of Escalator Over The Hill, vinyl version. It has locked groove, which repeats endlessly.
  6. Good albums, but already have them both.
  7. Caved in and acquired the latest Zappas.
  8. I clicked on the link to the article hoping to see the famous bumper sticker. No luck. The photo posted here looks like Bill Murray so that's no good. Well maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to spot the famous Alice Coltrane bumper sticker everyone is talking about.

    Sivuca

Hermeto once said to this comparison (look a like, not music-wise) something akin to 'Yeah, we look similar but I'm much more handsome!' Anyways here's some Sivuca meets Hermeto music.

    Jean Luc Ponty

I like Ponty a lot, King Kong, his collaboration with Zappa, is a well-known classic. This one is less known but fabulous stuff still:
  11. I have a soft spot for circa 1974 King Crimson so I've picked up some from this era. Got Toronto, Brescia, Pittsburgh, Heidelberg. All pressed CDs and great audio-wise (last three are recent Japanese reissues.) DMG Live web-site is a good place to decide which ones to get. https://www.dgmlive.com/albums/massey-hall-toronto
