  1. Very disapointed that Give The Vibes Some won't be released on cd.Glad the family of Khan Jamal will see some bucks from the vinyl reissue..I still hope this will se the light of day on a cd sometime soon.
  2. In response to an inquiry i made, honchos from Souffle Continue advised me they are currently working on re-issues of Khan Jamal-Give The Vibes Some,Bakaida Carroll-Orange Fish Tears and Byard Lancaster-Us,with others to follow. No estimate of when they will be released and on what formats but this is good news for all who have longed to see/hear these mid-70's titles again. Can't wait!!!!
  3. RIP .It would be nice(don't hold your breath) if Jamal's 1974 solo/.duo session,"Give The Vibes Some" was reissued. [VIDEO] [/

    Byard Lancaster

Sure would be nice if Byard's album "Us" with Steve McCall -drums and Sylvain Marc-electric bass was reissued.Originally released in the mid 70s on the French Palm label.Who knows where (if?) the original tapes are.
  5. After one complete listen...WOW.Outstanding music.Paul Bley is crazy, magically brilliant here.Steve Swallow is recorded very well on this session, you hear him under every minute of the music.A couple of tracks, the shortcomings of the tape come through but generally, the sound is acceptable.
  6. Got my shipping notification from Squidco this morning.Happy days.
  7. It's available from Squidco.I ordered my copy there.
  8. Glad to see this release has authorization from the Giuffre and Bley estates, and from Steve Swallow.
  9. Hotdamn!!.More live Giuffre 3 from their 1961 tour of Europe.I think this session was available as a boot but it's a gas to have this out legit (i assume it's legit,Hat Art releases usually are).Ordered from Squidco but it'll be available elsewhere, i'm sure. Tried to post the Squidco page link for this release but it didn't work, probably my fault. It's listed on Squidco as "Just in stock".
  10. Randy Weston Memorial Broadcast. The music of Randy Weston, all day today, Monday,Sep 3 on WKCR,89.9 on the FM dial in NYC and streamed on its site. https://www.cc-seas.columbia.edu/wkcr/node/21064
  11. Been digging this new release on the Umlaut label. These days i'm more willing to check out trumpet-bass-drums trio recordings than sax-bass-drums albums. This one's a keeper.Reminds me a bit of Bill Dixon-Vade Mecum, particularly the way Louis Laurain crafts his sound on trumpet.I post an excerpt from a track on the cd.Hope you like it. Louis Laurain-trumpet Hannes Lingen-drums Sebastien Beliah-bass
  12. For me, there is no album in Ornette's discography that means more to me than Crisis.I consider it a masterpiece, and i'm excited as hell that it'll finally, at long last be reissued.I hope it's a legit reissue.I'm somewhat curious why Denardo and whoever else runs Ornette's label aren't releasing these titles themselves. In any event, i'm in.

    Jimmy Hastings

Hastings plays sax and flute on Caravan's "If I Could Do It All Over Again....".Lovely player.
  14. Julian Coryell,Larry's son, posted on Facebook that his father passed away yesterday.
  15. Haven't checked to see if he's been mentioned, but, if not..... Steve Potts.

I'd love to see a reissue of Archie Shepp-Live(Life) at Donauschingen Music Festival.I'm lucky to have a Polydor cd of this but it deserves a wider release.True fire-music,and what a band-Grachan Moncur III and Roswell Rudd on trombones,Jimmy Garrison-bass-Beaver Harris-drums.From 1967.
  17. I'd love to have more music from this edition of the Cecil Taylor Unit(i love Dark To Themselves). If this is a boot, which it appears to be, then i can live without it.Hopefully, one day it'll be issued legit.I won't hold my breath.
