I've done a quick search & I don't think Joachim Gies has been mentioned here before, any opinions as I'm a bit partial to solo works?
  4. not going to happen, as Water records just reissued this and the other Eddie Gale BN. You should grab those, I really think you'd enjoy them. ← Cheers John, Late & Jazzbo, you were right (off course), I picked up Black Rhythm Happening today & its right up my street.

These are are ones that I have & really enjoy - Billy Bang Bangception: Willisau 1982 Ellery Eskelin Arcanum Moderne Richard Grossman Even Your Ears Simon Nabatov Sneak Preview Matthew Shipp Prism & The Multiplication Table These three I would say are essential - Albert Ayler Lorrach, Paris 1966 Joe McPhee Tenor & Fallen Angels Peter Brotzmann Tales Out of Time
  9. Yes I noticed that he must have deleted some posts when I read an old thread the other day & it reads like I was having an arguement with myself.
  10. Many thanks gents , I really appreciate it.
  11. From BBC Mr Whitby, told BBC News: "I was sitting on the train reading my paper. "I heard a load of noise, people saying, 'Get out, get down'! "I saw an Asian guy run onto the train hotly pursued by three plain-clothes police officers. "One of them was carrying a black handgun - it looked like an automatic - they pushed him to the floor, bundled on top of him and unloaded five shots into him. "I saw the gun being fired five times into the guy - he's dead." Passenger Briony Coetsee said: "We were on the Tube and then we suddenly heard someone say, 'Get out, get out' and then we heard gunshots." BBC radio has said Police have just confirmed it was a suspected suicide bomber.
  12. No, its in a chapter written by Ben Young about each session thats included in the box.
  13. Don't have the box - what does it say? ← 'But Samson's entry into the scene was not unanimously hailed.Ayler's alto saxophonist Charles Tyler, still a stalwart follower of Elijah Muhammad, wanted no part of an intergrated bandstand. He left La Cave without playing a note & in the same stroke permanently left the band once it became clear that Samson would be part of the first show.'
  14. Its nice to know a bit more about Charles Tyler than just the Ayler box's sleevnotes explanation of why he left Ayler's band.
  15. I dont think the soundclips do the CD any justice if thats the case. I'm giving it another listen now & it sounds like a top quality free jazz CD of the era . I'd recommend anybody to give it a gamble & risk making a purchase.
  16. It may be not needed but heres another Evan Parker recommendation. A double disc , each has a different trio (Schlippenbach/Guy & Lovens/Lytton). Some excellent tenor & mesmerising soprano are included. Edit - Sorry Nate got there just before me
  17. These 4 arrived from Amazon this morning , I'll be having a first listen to each of these in the office today .
  18. Me too I ordered both of these today fom CDbaby, & I finally ordered a certain organ trio's debut CD while I was there (I thought it was about time I paid my dues).
  19. Ordered from the jazz loft last night .
  20. I was getting a bit edgy but set #3069 (I think) finally arrived yesterday.
  21. It looks as if Thirsy Ear have been added to Emusic.(Just when I thought I had this months downloads sorted!)
