  1. A friend have given me "Sonny Stiitt The Savoy Recordings", there is not any info about recording date or band members, there is only the tune list. Help would be appreciated for the missing info. The track list: 1. Big Dr. Woody 2. The Night Has A Thousand Eyes 3. Ballad Medley 4. Star Eyes 5. Lover Man 6. Laura 7. Everything Happens to Me 8. Solo Excerpt 9. Wee 10. Outro Vic
  2. I have the complete Sonny Clark recordings, and if not, nothing that I knopw of, but I doubt that, nothing else. Only 95% of Wardell Gray. Vic
  3. I have it now, bought the cheapest used copy I could find, 35 Euro from Amazon, Germany. Vic
  4. I am looking for a hard to find Barney Wilen CD "Modern Nostalgie, Starbust Forever" Alfa Jazz ALCB-9516. I can find it on the net, but at prices that are too expensive for me. Any info or otherwise will be greatly appriciated. Vic
  5. Those were the days, they were not just record stores, they were places to hang out. I have fond memories of Diplom Radio here in Copenhagen (Chris A. used to come there). I bought my first 10" LP there "Mulligan with Chet Baker", very expensive, a french import, that was in 1952, I was 16. Then later Music Bristol Center, were they sometimes had jams, and then later again Steves Book and Records, Steve Schein is an american who has lived in Denmark for many years. Now there is only one left here in Copenhagen "Jazzcup", I never go there, when ever I buy something nowadays, I do on the net, mostly Jazzmessengers in Barcelona and Amazon.uk. Vic
  6. The group in Copenhagen was Ted Curson, Bill Barron, Herb Bushler (bass), Dick Berk (drums), no piano so Kenny Barron was not with group, who was playing a three week gig at Jazzhus Montmartre. Vic
  7. She is so good, I only have two records with her "Portrait Of Sheila" and "The Crossing", love both of them. I can tell you that Duke Jordan was an a....., not a nice person, I knew him a little while he lived (and died) here in Copemhagen. I remember one occasion, at Herluf Kamp Larsen's 80th birthday, there was a big party at Copenhagen Jazz House, and all the muscians played for nothing to pay tribute to Herluf, But Duke Jordan, no no, he was standing in the bar and I asked him if he was not going to play, his answer was "Only If I get paid". Herluf did not have any money, we had all paid for ourselves to be there. Vic
  8. My wife don't dance to anything I play, but my two year old granddaughter dances to everything, even Monk and Bird, she has rhythm. Vic
  9. I have all LTD's Columbia recordings, one is great, a couple is pretty good, the rest not that much, but none of Dexter's recordings beats hearing and seing him live, which I have done at least a hundred times during the sixties, those were the days. Vic
  10. Sarah V. "At Mister Kelly's", great album Vic
  11. I must confess, I have bought it. Vic PS I also have a bootleg of a SR concert in Copenhagen from 1965, shame on me
  12. Sorry to disappoint you, but that did not happen. I was at The Coltrane Concert and efterwards at Montmartre where Kirk was playing, Coltrane did not play there that night, and Anders Stefansen (who was my friend) was with me so he knows also it did not happen. Vic
  13. I just want to say Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all my friends here on Organissimo, yar are all such a helpful and nice bunch. Vic
  14. I have all the records mentioned, but "Diane" in duet with Paul Bley is my absolute favorite, very subdued and intimate.just played it yesterday. BTW When I was in Amsterdam a couple of years back did I see a plate in memory of Chet on the wall of that small hotel (near the centralstation) where Chet "fell" ?????? out of the window from his room and died from the fall. Vic
  15. I will not get it, have 7 of the 8, it's such a shame that "Reminiscin'" (which I don't have) have never been reissued on CD. For must of the ones I have have I paid more for a single one than the whole set is selling for now. For instance if you could find a new copy of "Happin's" is is 90$ or more. Vic
  16. Nick is an underrated player, I think he is better than Pepper Adams and almost at par with Serge Chaloff and Mulligan. Got to think of Nick playing "Raincheck" on Resorvoir. He swings like mad with a very gutsy sound on his Baritone and is so gentle on Clarinet playing "Tenderly". I have more or less all his recorded stuff. Any opinions ? Vic
  17. I am an idiot, in connection with a divorce 27 years ago did I dispose (threw them out) of a complete 15 years DB collection because I had to move and had no space for it, but I still have ONE of the DB review compendidiums. Space is the problem, I have hardly any space left to fill in new CD's and books. Vic
  18. Do anyone know if an old 10" Riverside LP RLP-1021 "The Amazing Mr. Waller vol.1-Fats At The Organ" Have ever been reissued on CD. Vic
  19. Do anyone know the full details about this CD (Collectables COL-CD 6129), only ones listed is Hubbard, Fuller and Lateef, unknown Piano, bass and drums and no recording date (maybe 1961). Curtis Fuller is heavyly featured, could it be a session of his ? and 4 of the 7 tracks are written by him. Can't find anything in the usual sources. Vic
  20. Brubeck never swung an inch IMHO. I have listened over and over again to him, left me cold, sorry. Vic
  21. I am on the hunt for Mulgrew Miller & NHOP "The Duets" recorded january 15th 1999. It was not released commercially but made as a promo for Bang & Olufsen B&O CD 1, but it might have come out in Germany as Sony(D) 674.005-2 (CD). Can't fint it anywhere on the net. Can somebody help with any info. Vic
  22. Sometimes All Music Guide (AMG) have the release date besides the recording date(s) Vic
