  1. I have the JazzLips, sound is ok. Vic For those who problems with their spouse, don't tell them, and check the mailbox before she do LOL, that is what I do, I would guess my wife have only noticed 25% of what I have received, and I have my little private room where my collection is, she rarely comes there.
  2. Thanks for the info, I have already ordered it, pretty expensive though. Vic
  3. I just have seen in my Pettiford disco. a very interesting date with three of my favorites, Lucky Thompson, Eddie Costa and Oscar Pettiford from 05/02/57 with 12 tunes on it. They have all been out on an LP Rama LP 1001. I have never heard of it and seen it, must be very rare. Does somebody here have any info about it ?. The other guys on the record is Ralph Sharon, Joe Puma and Osie Johnson. Vic
  4. Sounds like a pro that just would like to make some greens. Vic
  5. Two reissues from that great band has just come out: Faces & Latin Kaleidoscope on MPS (Universal), I have them already, they are available from Amazon.de Highly recommended. Vic
  6. I have seen Horace Parlan live many times, he have been living in Denmark for quite a few years now, but he can't play anymore, he is in a home for elderly people and almost blind, so sad, he is a very nice person. Vic
  7. Thanks Guys for your always helpful replies, Brownie I will PM you. Vic
  8. I have been trying to plug a few holes in my BW selection, namely Frensh Ballads Paris Moods Modern Nostagia I have found them on the Net, but they are SO expensive (out of my reach, moneywise), wonder why, can anybody tell me the reason why they cost so much. Maybe Brownie knows ?. Vic
  9. I saw and heard Idrees Suliman 3 or 4 times when he was in The Danish Radio Big Band at the time when its musical director was Thad Jones, it's was a great band. Vic
  10. Harold Land "The Cellar Door Sessions" and Zoot Sims on AVID. 4 albums on 2 CD's, All from Amazon.UK Vic
  11. I just wonder, why are the original covers so important. it's the music that counts. I had about 300 first pressings of BN, Prestige & Riverside that I just traded in for nothing to get the CD's of the same, but well I have never been aware what they could be worth moneywise. I gave away Albert Aylers first recording with a dedication (only 100 copies made) because I did not like like it. Later saw it sold in an auction for 4000$, but so what, record collectors are much the same as stamp collectors. The Music is what matters to me. Vic
  12. I have only a few: The Blue Note (Cuscana & Ruppli), Chet Baker(Torbjørn Søgren), Wardell Gray(Coover Gazdar), Oscar Pettiford (Coover Gazdar), and then three Japanese of Blue Note, Prestige & Riverside, and also some I have printed out from the Net. And last but not least one Brian Rust that covers Ellington. Vic
  13. I would vote for "Art Worker" on Moon, completely wrong personel except for Farmer. Vic
  14. I have just ordered The Cabu "LY Clarinet" from Amazon.UK for 19£, looking forward to get, always loved Lesters Clarinet Playing. Vic
  15. Hi Guys Last year I finally got the SC's I was missing. so now I have all of it. The JP CD I bought from Amazon.JP is probably one of the most expensive I have ever bought (35$), it last 22 minutes and the last 8 minutes is in such a bad shape in audio, imposible to listen to, it hurts your ears, so bad is it. Sonny Clark is the only one I have complete, took me 6 years to get it all. My new obsession is Woody Shaw lol Vic
  16. I have both, like them a lot. Chris our friend Bent Håndstad was something else, really, a personality. Vic
  17. I have 15 CD's with that great band, I love them all, the unison sax group is something else. I still have the original LP of "All Smiles", sounds it's some money worth, but I have never been good at that, traded about a 100 BN LP's (first edition) for nothing, Vic
  18. I bought the Hampton one out of pure Nostagia because it contained the "Apollo Concert 1954", I heard that I was 16 at a friend's place, was (then) crazy about it, and it's the first time I have seen it on a CD, had to have it (had not heard it in 63 years) (will be 75 next wednesday). Vic
  19. I am on the waiting for the third week right now for two packages from Movie-Mars ordered throug Amazon UK, stiil no signs, they have been dispatched for more than two weeks ago. It bugs me that it shall take such a lomg time. Vic
  20. I have just recently found out about The AVID's twofers called Three Classic Albums plus. They are not, I have bought 4 of them, they fill old holes in my collection. A lot of them are rip offs from Verve in the fifties, so copyright is obsolete in Europe. I know how some of you feel about this issue, but what the hell, they would otherwise never be seen again. Vic
  21. Lot of BS, give them Kind Of Blue, that is music for loving. lol Vic
  22. Peter You turned me on to Wardell Gray, great tenorplayer, even if I was aware of him, one of my own very first records was a 78 with "Blue Lou" with him and Erroll Garner, still love that recording. BTW I have now the Gigi Gryce that we have talkek about. your friend Vic
  23. Don't forget his solo on "Four Brothers" with Woody Herman (1948), BTW I knew him a little while he lived here in Copenhagen, not a very nice person. Vic
  24. Fantastic, I have just this past saturday attended a concert here in Copenhagen of that symphony conducted by Stanislaw Skrowaczewski (87 years old), fantastic music, there were also two other pieces, Mozart's Concerto for obo, and the conductors own creation "Music for winds", also so great. Vic
  25. I have been on the hunt for that a long time, I found one new for 200$, not for me, so now I have a cd-r of it, good enough for me. Vic
