  3. Has "Baritone Madness" (Bee Hive 7000) with Nick Brignola & Pepper Adams been reissued on CD ?, and if not are there any boardmembers who have it on Vinyl ? Vic

As most of you already know I am the Sonny Clark nut (have him complete), but just today I ordered "Music In The Key Of Clark" with John Hicks, why I really don't know, I will be 75 next month and have more music than ever, I play CD's at least 6 hour every day and have many I have not played for years, help me, I AM A COLLETTOR, have 10 more CD's on the way. 5. Will it ever stop with those reissues ?, I can't afford to replace them all every the time, so I will pass. Vic
  6. Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter, Anita O'Day, Carmen McRae and once more Sarah Vaughan, and maybe Nina Simone. Vic
  7. Hi Chris I have a ? for you, maybe not this topic, but maybe you know why Riverside did not use Van Gelder, but Reeves instead, was it Grauer or Keepnews that did not not want to use him ?. Vic
  8. I agree with Larry about Helen Tursten, but there is also Arne Dahl (also a swede) and there is also a recent Danish writer Jussi Adler-Olsen, he is very good, I think he have been translated into english. I could mention many more, but enough said. Vic
  9. 1992 Eric Dolphy "At The Five Spot, vol. 1", I had just got a CD Player as a gift from my Mother-In-Law. Vic
  10. I am just a "small" collector, 500 LP's and 2300 CD's lol, and I am still still getting some, and now running out of space, my wife says I am insane "You can't listen to them all, so why buy anymore", but I can't help it. Vic
  11. Hi Gunnar I have just read your blog about "Knald" and the first Storyville Club in Copenhagen, down at the Longshoremens Cantine by The Harbor, I also came there as a teenager, Oh Jeppe Esper Larsen and The Ramblers and Københavns (Copenhagens) Fodvarmere (Feetwarmers) with two banjo players (one was a woman), those were they days when we were young and believed. I was an apprentice at that time and made 156 kroner a month, and once did I buy "Porter" (Stout beer) for 5 people, I was so excited, I was broke for the rest of the month. I guess you never come to Denmark anymore, we are getting old both of us, but if you do let me know, I would love to have a drink or two with you. Vic
  12. I have a CD with Gil Melle "Gil's Guests" Prestige 7063 with three different session dates and I am very much in doubt if the personel listed from the session on january 18, 1957 is correct. The CD booklet list Gil Melle (baritone), Donald Byrd (Trumpet), Phil Woods (alto), Joe Cinderella (guitar), Vinnie Burke (bass), Ed Thigpen (drums). The Tunes are: Funk For Star People; Golden Age; Herbie, and there are a vibeplayer on these three tracks that is not mentioned (could it be Teddy Charles ?) and also it sounds as there is a tenorplayer (Zoot Sims ?). Do anyone here know the correct personel ? Vic
  13. Hi Gunnar Your post bring back old memories, Bent Håndstad in the back of Diplom Radio Store on Vesterbrogade in Copenhagen where we listened, drank and just carried on. I have spend hours and hours there. I have also attented 4-5 JATP concerts in the 50's here in Copenhagen, the only time I have seen Lester Young live. I was later in my life at a private party at my friends (Anders Stefansen whom you know) house where Norman G. also was a guest, he was nice, but I would say a little arrogant. Vic
  14. I don't bother, my ears are not that good so I can hear the difference. I have the duke from the beginnig in 20's up to 43, 40 CD's all together, playing one right now, 1938-1939. The only thing I would miss from the Mosaic is the booklet. Vic
  15. Shipping for Europe is really costly, All About Jazz will charge me 15$ if I am so lucky to get Gryce's "Hap'nin's" at the price of 15.98$ for the CD. Vic
  16. I have now got "Saying Somethin'", but not yet "Hap'nin's", but I have two web orders in for it, so maybe. Was not aware of that All About Jazz was somehow connected with Mosaic, but must be since I received a mail form Scott Wenzel about my order from them. Vic
  17. Never Mp3 downloads for me, but anyhow I will soon stop collecting, I have not that much space left for more CD's. Just trying to fill a few holes in my collection. Vic
  18. I would recommend an external harddrive, that is what I do. I have WIN 7 Pro and backup to a WD 1TB EHD, I only do it once a month and keep the EHD separate from the rest of my computer, only connect it when doing the backup. I take regular backup of my music library, but do that on a CD-R, that is the only thing I don't want to lose, I have spend so many hours making that. Vic
  19. Rolf, so sorry for your loss, I will think of you, she has peace now with deep respect Vic
  20. I am a retired HR Manager. Have been into Jazz since my teens. My Interests in Jazz goes From Armstrong's Hot 5/7 and up to Carla Bley, so it's broad, my main though is from middle forties to middle sixties. Besides jazz I have another thing I do a lot, I play tournament Bridge.

    I have a little collection, almost 2300 CD's and 400 LP's

  21. I have been looking for The Hap"nins on CD for some time myself. It is odd that the three OJC releases vary so much in their availability. Rat Race Blues and Saying Something are available at reasonable prices, even though a little hard to find. Not so with Hap"nins... Very difficult to find at reasonable prices. If you find a reasonable source let us know. Until then I will just wait. Usually what happens is I pay a slight premium only to discover that it is the latest "Keepnews" release, or something equally frustrating. Hard to understand the music business these days I guess...... Good luck to you Vic. Hi I have just found "The Hap'nin's" on All About Jazz for 15.98$ + shipping, that is a fair price, so I it ordered it, there was nothing about out of stock, so they should still have it. Vic
  22. Thanks Guys for kind advice. I have ordered "Into Something" from Amazon, with "The Hap'nin's" is it a complety different story, I found one (new) at that outragous price of 200$, so I will probably take the offer from a member of the board that will make me a copy of his own. Vic
  23. I have been trying all over the net to find two CD's with Gigi Gryce "Saying Something" and "The Hap'nin's" for a secent price, but in vain, those I have found cost a bundle, are they really that rare, both were on the New Jazz Label (Prestige). I have a order in for them right now, but I doubt very much that it can be fulfilled. Can anyone here on the board help me ? Vic
