  1. Don't forget the two Uptowns with Philly Joe's Dameronia Band: "Stop, Look and Listen" and "To Thad With Love" Only the first is available, newly reissued. Second one is OOP. Vic
  2. I have it lol, like it, and Booker was a nice guy, have spend some time with him. Vic
  3. Nothing with Dex on records can live up to his live performances, high or not, I have had the pleasure of have listened to him live at least 150 times while he lived here in Copenhagen, we became friends (though not close friends), sometimes he had a bad night when strung out, but usually he "Played his Pants" off. I have the one with him and Carl Perkins, not one of his best, but still ok, but the one with Stan Levey is better. I have a signed photo of him hanging on my wall, looking at it right now. Vic
  4. Go for all the Thad you can get, he is one of my alltime favorites, I have all the ones that is mentioned here, try to find Dameronia on Soul Note, great album, it's a tribute band started by Philly Jo, but not with him (he was dead)and replaced by Kenny Washington, it's a live concert from Paris. Vic
  5. About Venus prices, Jazz Messengers in Barcelona have quite a few of them, actually a lot, prices ranging from 12.95 Euro to 18.95 Euro, they have some on offer right now. I might buy some Barney Wilen, even if I have some CD-R's of them. Vic
  6. I would say that Venus (Japan) makes the best CD's as far as audio is concerned, it's so clear and balanced, almost like you are in the room with perfect acoustic. Vic
  7. Dex my man We were not close friends, but we were friends, always fun to be together with him and spending time with him, oh those Montmartre days, I can see him before me shaking his knees when blowing his brains out. Looking af him right now at a photo he gave me with a dedication, it's on my wall. Vic
  8. Thanks Chuck for the info, I have just ordered it, but was "To Tadd With Love" never reissued on CD ? you are so helpfull, thanks Vic
  9. Thanks Chuck for the info, have just ordered on from Amazon. It was a shame that Uptown never reissued the two Dameronia LP's on CD, I really wanted to get them. Vic
  10. That sounds strange, I also have Firefox 6.0 as my main browser, never had that problem(yet) with Organissimo, maybe if you have it try to run CC Cleaner, that could help PS, did you like the Sonny Rollins I send you ? Vic
  11. Thanks Guys for the info, would really love to get my hands on it, especially the Don Byas ones Vic
  12. Can anyone supply me with the details about players and tunes from a Concert Held on June 9th 1945 In Townhall, NYC set up by Timme Rosenkrantz. It was recorded by Commodore, but I don't know if it have ever been out on a CD, any info would help because I very much would like to get hold of it. Vic
  13. Don Byas, my man, reminds of one unforgetable night in Montmartre here in Copenhagen, Dex had the gig and Byas and Paul Gonsalves sat in, they were battling until 4 in morning, Byas with no shirt on in the end, it was a really cutting contenst, I have never before or later seen anything like that, three topclass tenors trying to cut each other. I have been together with Byas in private, he was small but so strong with a temper and he would always challenge to you to a game of checkers, he was a master of that board game. Oh those longgone days. Vic
  14. I have a feeling that it's Andorran, I got it from Jazzmessengers in Barcelona, it's their retail outlet, great shop with very good service, and sorry to say I buy a lot from them, they have so much you can't get elsewhere. Vic
  15. I have IE8 but only use it when I have to, Firefox is my main browser, I don't trust IE. Vic
  16. Hi Don't forget his two latest on IPO: Our Delight with Hank Jones (2006) 4A with Kenny Barron (2008) They are both very good, though his "chops" have gone a little. I have about 15 of his albums, one of my favorites. Look him up at www.jamesmoody.com Vic
  17. I confess, I am a criminal, I have bought quite a few from The Andorra people, mostly stuff that I could not get nowhere else and cheaper than the japanese editions, and the worst part of it is that I am not even shamefull. Vic
  18. Hi all you great people Are we collecting stamps or the music we lowe LOL, I am both, I set a goal to collect everything that Sonny Clark ever recorded and made it , and some of it is not very good, so that is the stamp collector for you. Right now I am into The Clarke/Boland thing, but that will be difficult, I have their list of recordings, so much OOP, I have 19 CD's with them now, but so many live recordings that has never been issued. Vic
  19. Hi I love Bud P. and can recommend a Proper Box(4 CD's, English issue) called Tempus Fugue-It, it contains a lot of his early recordings. Good hunting. Vic
  20. Get well Joe One of my favorite is his "52nd Street Theme" where IMO he pays tribute to Tadd Dameron. Vic
  21. Arne Domnerus "At The Pawnshop vol. 1" on Properius (Swedish Label) Vic
