  1. Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

I somehow neglected to rip this onto my NAS, so going through it today. Really enjoy this set.
  2. Just picked this set up based on my love of the Condon Mob set and these reviews. Looking forward to it!
  3. Somebody's selling a like-new JJ Small Group set on ebay for $85 (Buy It Now price + $10 shipping)!!
  4. Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

Diligent eBay patience and persistence finally paid off, and it's just as good as I'd hoped. Listening straight thru the set.
  5. Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

I've been buying a little too aggressively on eBay lately, but without any remorse on my part whatsoever (now my dw on the other hand...). Currently alternating between these two, and they are both fantastic. As others on this board have discussed, I love the variety sets, and the Condon Mob is really, really excellent both sonically and musically. Dixieland really has a liveliness to it that's infectious - I'd dance along if I could, lol. J.J. is likewise an interesting set for the variety he himself searched for. Haven't finished the liner notes just yet, but you really can see him always working toward something new with each recording session as Loren Schoenberg notes in the essay.
  6. Disc 12 - probably going to work my way backwards through the set today.
  7. Sorry for the delay, Mike, but I don't have my account set to notify me if someone comments! I got it for for $46 including shipping, which I think was an absolute steal (it's like-new condition). I've been compulsively watching eBay for it to come back around after I missed it for $50 something (and that was without the book and box), and I think I just lucked with an odd-timed auction that people missed. Incredibly happy with the set and highly recommend it. Agreed, Bluesnik. Some days you just want to hear a great piano trio, and this set gives you that many more options. It is just consistent high quality throughout - not a dud track.
  8. Just picked up the Pacific Jazz Piano Trios on eBay and am thoroughly enjoying all of it.
  9. Mosaics on Spotify

Do a search for "Mosaic Records" in Spotify. I previously created a playlist of all current Mosaics.
  10. Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

Discovered this on Spotify and am in a big band mood these days so gave it a listen. Surprised how solid the whole set is start to finish. Superb musicians and a massive ensemble sound.
  11. Mosaic on Spotify

Thought it might be worth while collecting all of the Mosaic sets available on Spotify onto a playlist, if only to make them more easily searchable. Thoughts? I know there's more out there - what am I missing?
  12. Mosaic on Spotify

Thanks for that list, Daniel A. I tried to search the forums and Spotify for Mosaic Records playlists in various configurations, but that obviously returned a lot of unrelated material. It looks like more sets have been added since Ayers put his list up, but I went ahead and grabbed the Johnny Mercer Select from his list because I'd missed it. Can't hurt to have multiple Mosaic playlists!
  13. Awesome. Thanks, I’ll give it a try.
  14. Anyone have a disc 2 of the Mosaic Decca 1935-1946 Louis Armstrong? Picked up the set, but the second disc was missing.
  15. Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

Just received it in the mail yesterday! Had to make the move once I saw it was on Last Chance, and it does not disappoint. Going straight through all three CDs this morning.
  16. Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

Today it's Stanley Turrentine, again via Spotify. Great, straight ahead jazz!
  17. Which Mosaic Are You Enjoying Right Now?

It's on Spotify, and it's excellent.
  18. Solidarity it is, at least so long as the sets are still in print. Gotta support the people who make the sets possible in the first place.

    Return of Art Pepper
  20. Apparently, I'm very late to the party on this (I discovered several threads on this subject from around 2010-2011 after the fact), but there are a few Mosaic sets available on iTunes at a steep discount. In particular, Stanley Turrentine is $19! That is impulse-buy territory. Should I be boycotting this, however, in solidarity with Mosaic?
  21. LF: Billie Holiday

Don't know if this is the right forum or not, but I'm looking for a good representative box set of Billie Holiday's best. I see countless boxed sets on Amazon, but I wanted to cut to the chase with Organissimo experts on which was the best to START with (i.e., I'm not necessarily looking for a 10-disc encyclopedia of her work). Thanks!
  22. Art Pepper Complete Galaxy Recordings. My jazz epiphany began with middle-period Art (the Aladdin recordings, in particular, which remain favorites of mine to this day), but it took some time to warm up to his Gotterdammerung period of the '70s. Nevertheless, I took the plunge on the noah's ark collection and am now a thorough convert with no regrets!!
  23. I already bought it when I thought it couldn't get any cheaper than $25, but Amazon's got the Frank Sinatra Capitol Concept albums set up again for an unbeatable $22.79!! This is indubitably a core library requirement, and, at this price, it is an immediate, no-regrets impulse purchase.
