  1. I'd say Eyes Wide Open is pretty lyrical. That one, and Elektrik are my favorite tracks on The Power To Believe.
  2. Premiere recordings of no.1, an early work dating from 1923, and no.2 which dates from 1937. The 3rd is from 1946. The two Krenek Toccata label CDs I just picked up feature superb sonics! A very realistic open and dynamic sound similar to some of the MDG recordings I've listened to.
  3. Re: Schnittke The 3rd is a favorite. I have the BIS recording.
  4. That 2nd symphony by Schnittke is some of the darkest stuff I've ever listened to. I play it a couple times a year.
  5. Great live set of interesting compositions. Will have to explore some of the other volumes in this series.
  6. Not the only studio album since Thrak. There's 2003's The Power To Believe.
  7. I opted for live recordings of the material on the 3 CD Heavy Construkction. Either way, the drum sounds are the deal breaker. But there are some excellent compositions, particularly the title track. The live set is now prohibitively expensive, so the studio album may be the only reasonable option.
  8. Please Come Home For Christmas on Johnny Winter's Hey, Where's Your Brother

If great sounding analog recordings are incredibly dated, then I guess I like that kind of dated, as opposed to crappy 80s digital dated electric drums and other freeze dried sounds.

Still love Fragile. A great sounding record with excellent compositions and musicianship. Bought it 40 years ago, and it put me on the path towards other accomplished music leading to jazz and classical.
  11. Ravel - Gaspard de la nuit Carter - Night Fantasies Boulez - Sonatine for flute & piano; sonata no.1
  12. This woman's playing is fantastic! Such a beautiful touch, and very soulful. I'm buying this set!
