  1. Clearly he had expectations that just was not going to be there. It's not like finding a previously undiscovered live date.
  2. Yes, there's nothing revealing, just hard playing and creatively executed. Even the filler is killer. Brody must have been drinking when he wrote the review. Low boil???????????? No way in hell.
  3. The whole group is coming out swinging. Nothing held back.
  4. Listening to this now. Damn, this lives up to the hype.
  5. WAMU has had a long history of initiating outstanding programs, then after many years and successful fundraising campaigns, suddenly deleting them. I stopped supporting them over twenty years ago. DC is a news and talk junkie town; unfortunately, this program and the jazz and latin and world music programs from a Pacifica station WPFW, are either being cancelled or moved to the graveyard shifts. While people can always stream in the offices and cars, I miss the concept of individually curated music radio programs -- this is how we get to listen to new music. Not any more. Now I have to dig and search for it.
  6. Jackie McLean Fire & Love Junko Onishi at the Village Vanguard The Legendary Oscar Denard Any Ralph Peterson disc.
  7. This is the only jazz multi disc set I have purchased this year and I have been playing it non stop. Sound is excellent and the playing unbelievable.
  8. Scott, I prefer this kind of release over the 100th iteration of A Love Supreme. Granted, it is scraping the bottom of the barrel for material, but unless unissued broadcast performances are discovered, this is a nice surprise.
  9. I've had instances where someone would buy a disc from me, and I ship it with tracking. It would travel across country, looping several times in a full circuit, before finally arriving at the proper destination three states away from me.
  10. The SHM Japan reissue series of the past few years have been really affordable and have the best sound quality of all. They could just cut and paste those for the US pressings.
  11. So apparently Oppo will have more 205s available for sale this summer. A friend who had been interested in one contacted the company after I had told him about Oppo's new situation, and that's what they told him.
  12. So Kevin, you gonna go the Fiio route?
  13. Wow, I did not know Oppo is pulling out. https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarcher/2018/04/02/oppo-shock-popular-av-brand-announces-that-its-time-to-say-goodbye/#5cfd3c7f3acc This might be part of the reason why - Trump's tarriffs: https://wccftech.com/huawei-us-plans-preventing-other-chinese-players/amp/
  14. Not a big deal for me. The Emotiva is showing its age, and I may not get another cd player.
  15. Y'know, I don't believe my amp has a digital input. I'll have to check. Confirmed, no digital inputs.
  16. I am using XLR cables from the player to the amp.
  17. yes Well I already invested in the player, which is on its last legs. I'm using a Raspberry Pi with a HifiBerry DAC to play my jazz on the home stereo.
  18. I had the X3 and moved up to the X5II. Been throroughly enjoying it for the past year and a half; with two sd slots and a killer DAC that smokes my beloved Emotiva cd player. I take it to work with me daily. Gave my X3II to my dad -- loaded it up with 128GB of jazz and he never is lacking music.
  19. The seven disc set. And no, I don't find it frustrating. Not at all.
  20. Ordered from Amazon UK. Been enjoying a non jazz box set lately, The Fall Singles, which has turned out to be one of the best boxed sets I have ever heard.
