Got this last month. Heard 2/3 of it. Great reissue!

I have had this as well as other Jazz Workshop sessions for years. Now I am seeing this, available on Amazon. This isn't your typical funky Black Byrd Blue Note session; this is Byrd and his band destroying the stage with a fire and brimstone performance unlike anything one would expect. The opening 30 minute track, Kwame, is worth buying the entire cd. Soundboard quality. Highly recommended!

I don't buy into it; it is just a file format that I have for some of my music. 16 bit sound great using the DAC+. No skips when streaming. It's one of the reasons why I dumped my bluetooth receiver for this setup.

There is no need for a monitor with my current Pi setup. I access a hotspot on my local network (iPhone or tablet) by typing 199.162.etc.etc. in my browser and the application I placed in the Pi (Volumino) to run the machine comes up. I hook up a 4 tb drive to the Pi, and I can see all the music there. Hit play and that's it. The sound quality is as good as my Emotiva cd player. Sometimes better, depending on the source (24/96 files).

I don;t see why not. If you go to the hifiberry site there are many software options to run the Pi, headless (meaning not having it connected to a monitor) or not.

I use Spotify. But What I have done is ripped 95% of my music on to hard drives, and connect it to a Raspberry Pi with a HiFiBerry DAC+ which I can run it to my stereo. It is phenomenal.

Yeah, the writing's on the wall. Time to buy sets now.

Scott, I recommend the Rega Planar 2 and a Nagaoka 150 cartridge. He can later upgrade the stylus to a 200, as the bodies are the same. Or lpgear's new line of cartridges, which are beginning to get rave reviews, especially the Vessel A3SV.
