It very well could have been -- can't remember where I sold it. Things are WAY overpriced there; run-of-the-mill OJCs will run upwards of $20. From what I recall I paid $5 for it at least ten years ago. I have only been here for about 8, so it must have been a different copy.

I d/l this from emusic last night, listened on the bus this morning. I am an Indian music fanatic, and 70s Miles is some of my favorite music of all time, but this left me ambivalent. Maybe my liking of those two things puts me at a disadvantage when evaluating a project like this... For one, it is always hard to know where to put a sitar in the mix. It has one of those sonorities that can easily get lost; too low in the mix and you risk losing those resonances that make it so distinctive. As a result, it gets pushed higher in the mix than what would sound natural [or what i would perceive as natural in most other contexts, classical-wise.] I was hoping for a harder edge on some of the pieces, too. That is one of the things I love about Miles' 70s output -- that frenetic urgency. I find that same intensity at the apex of some of my favorite Carnatic performances, but was missing from this.

Wasn't the word that there would be a release around that? I remember reading that here, IIRC. I am going to add this to my emusic list tonight!

OMFG I am never going to get to hear this. Will Phil and Bobby get the hint and put out an un-numbered 2nd edition of this already? Aaaagh!

I had a bunch of these at one point. One funny memory I have of this series: I was working at the public radio station, sitting the board while A Prairie Home Companion was on air. I was listening to the Bernstein disc with the more modern pieces from the station's record library. The piece in particular was Ligeti's Atmospheres. I THOUGHT I was listening to it in audition mode, but it turns out it was going out over the air ON TOP OF Mr. Keillor. I got a phone call from a listener that asked if there was some kind of problem; I said, "We are having some technical difficulties."

The overall market, for sure, but for niche productions like this? yes. I suppose the enthusiasm of those reading this thread might not equate with the record buying public. Very true.

Those hatOLOGY reissues of Braxton's material went OOP PDQ, IIRC. Those were issues of 2,000 copies? Basel 1977? Dortmund 1976? These are all in that sweet spot that this box would cover.

I have his "Passing Measures" disc, and enjoy it greatly. Pulitzer, though?
