  1. Cecil Taylor - Conquistador! and Unit Structures. Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section before that.
  2. Just received Extension in the mail this morning and listened to it; it's fair to say I never heard anything like it before. Some of the most abstract and ambiguous music I ever came upon, and I mean that in a good way. A stunner all around. Thank you.
  3. They don't come near the top of the list when searching by artist name, but they're there: http://www.amazon.com/4cd-Boxset-Wayne-Shorter/dp/B005O3466M/ Note the ridiculous price amazon.com is asking compared to the private sellers!
  4. Four albums for about 10 bucks, that's not bad... Anyone have these yet?
  5. An SACD or a DVD-A would be much more expensive to manufacture and it would jack up the price, making it an even more niche product than it already is. And I could be wrong, of course, but I don't think there are many people who like this kind of music and own an SACD or DVD-A player. Well my first choice would have been a vinyl reissue, but if it must be digital (to accommodate extra tracks for instance), a hi-rez format would be very nice. Tahra is reissuing Furtwangler on sacd for about 10 euros a pop these days.
  6. I'm listening to Dogon A.D. as I'm typing; managed to grab a copy from someone on discogs.com for a decent price. It's awesome, just like Dixon's Intents and Purposes. I have a question though: this must be the most luxurious packaging I've seen on a cd yet, but the thing is, inside it's still just a plain old redbook compact disc. Why not include a sacd or dvd-a disc to make it even better in the sound department? Cheers!
  7. Amazon has both volumes on preorder with a release date in mid-May on the Hi Horse label. Price looks good too, about $16 each. Never heard of this label before; what say thee?...
  8. Any comments regarding sound quality of the Mosaic box vs. original vinyl? Thanks!
  9. Okay, let me rephrase that: this is not Kenny G so I don't expect they wore out too many matrices...
  10. Okay, so if Mosaic didn't come up with a significant sound quality improvement, I'll stick with the vinyls... They sound decent for sure, but could have been better imho... Of course pressings matter, but this is not Pink Floyd so I don't expect they wore out too many matrices.
  11. Hello good people of the organissimo forum! This is my first post here, and I'm really happy to have found such a nice place to hang out. I already have a few of the Arista albums, and usually am partial to vinyl over cd's, so is there any reason (aside from the booklet) to buy the Mosaic box rather than complete my vinyl collection? Cheers Bogdan
