Nice one. Yes, I have it and was equally pleased when I bought mine. Haven't listened to it for a while but shall dig it out
Whilst talking about Tchicai, have you got this one @Pim? Not to be missed
Oh yes that's a great one!

R.I.P. mr. Cuscuna and so many thanks for all those excellent reissues.

Coltrane's Village Vanguard Box set is my favorite probably. There's not a single bad note at that set. It's one of the few sets where I really don't mind the fact that there are four takes of the same track on it.

Fascinating record from a Hungarian group recording with John Tchicai. I hear influences by Albert Ayler, Abdullah Ibrahim and Pharoah Sanders. Some free passages, spiritual jazz, free improvisation and compositional music. Pretty adventurous stuff. I’d call this my 2024 discovery for now.
Perhaps some prejudice of me but I did not expect a 1983 record from Hungary to sound so good!
Maybe they already know it but I am pretty sure this is the league of @mjazzg@Rabshakeh@soulpope and perhaps also @HutchFan

Not sure about the vinyl but the cd is great. CD 2 is amazing and CD 1 is very, very good. Lovely set of music, essential for both Lacy as Waldron aficionados. The interviews with Workman and Cyrille are great and the essays by Hiromi and Evan Parker are a lovely read. Recommended stuff. Another review on my blog after 1.5 years:

wow guys this is a winner, what an awesome release. I’d say cd 1 is great and cd 2 is essential. Nice package. Reviewed it on my blog here:

Excellent Monk dominated "live" recording from 1992 ....
Yeah it’s fantastic.
At home from work today as my little 2yo boy is sick . I hope Mal has the same healing power as it has on his father
Amazing duets with the great Takeo Moriyama. Pure chemistry really going from free improvisation to pure melancholic beauty. -

wow the sound quality is amazing. The guys at Hat definitely knew what they were doing!

Listening to the Base now @Pim. It sounds pretty good I have to say
I have tickets for Shabaka in London in a few weeks but the Barbican venue doesn't have boxes so Andre 3000 will have to slum it with the rest of us in the unlikelihood he turns up 😀
Okay thanks for checking out!

I don't know but it would make sense. Evidently, according to Shabaka yesterday talking to GP, we're calling all this stuff Ambient Jazz. If it means the death of Spiritual Jazz as a catch all label I'm on board
Very nice, originals don't come cheap. I envy you as a Base owner...love Ric Colbeck on that
How does that one sound? The original sounds nice (for an ESP record).

Hooray I own an original pressing. I think this one of Noah’s more accessible works. It’s one my favorites anyway.

Went to the huge vinyl and cd fair in the city of Den Bosch. Did not have much luck last years but this year was a succes. There are 46 items on my current wantlist (well uh 37 now) and I found 9 and for reasonable prices. This was the first time prices were mostly round the Discogs median. Very happy with these 9 beauties

I’ve been mixing up Lonnie Smith and Lonnie Liston Smith for years. There even has been atime I thought they were the same person.
also Avishai Cohen the bassist and Avishai Cohen the trumpeter.

Superb concert .... a shame this was not released officially ....
Definitely. Sound quality is more than fine.

Mal Waldron series I created myself. 12 volumes with something like 16 bootleg records. This one captures the ‘Seagulls’ group live in Switzerland.

Wow good for you Gheorghe! Something to be very proud of.
What vinyl are you spinning right now??
