Early Jimmy Raney
If it comes to jazz I´ve been living out of the (Quadromania) box for the last few weeks, so to speak:
Repeatedly istening to all 4 CDs of "Woody Hermans Cool Guitar Player"
A treasure trove including early Getz and later pure guitar work for "A".
But the real gems are all quartets with Sonny Clark (OOP "Together"), hard to find tunes with Swedish tenorman Gosta Theselius on two other numbers ("Jumping for Jane" and "Invention") and most of those fabulous trios with Red Norvo.
The latter is IMO more sublime than Norvos acclaimed recordings with Tal Farlow.
But in the end it all boils down to your preferences: For my taste Raneys sound and style can hardly be rivaled,
