  1. Saw him only once, sitting next to Steve. Absolute legend, thank you sir and rest easy.
  2. I imagine he'll at least be on stage conducting, no?
  3. Losing pets is so awful. Sorry for your loss.
  4. Such a huge loss, but what a legacy.
  5. 4 sets from Threadgill, including Very Very Circus for the first time in 3 decades!
  6. Currently wearing a Monk at the Blackhawk shirt, courtesy of (as RT sez) DJTees. Got a Mahavishnu one from Etsy too.
  7. So envious of everyone who got to see Trane live. For me, a really formative gig was Sonny Sharrock with Pharaoh Sanders in 1993. Also Die Like a Dog at the Empty Bottle in 1999, truly roof-raising. Lacy solo, Parker/Guy/Lytton, Taylor/Oxley. Been lucky to see a ton of good shows.
  8. Absolute legend. RIP, sir.
  9. Yes! Excited as always, although hard choices will be made.
  10. Seems like we should be getting the daily schedules soon. FOMO Fest rides again!
  11. I haven't read this thread super closely, so apologies if the following is redundant. But one younger musician I've really enjoyed over the last few years is James Brandon Lewis. Currently listening to one of the DL-only releases from Cafe Oto, a fierce trio with John Edwards and Mark Sanders. My man Stevie Rey would surely love this.
  12. The one time I ever saw him was with Sonny Sharrock. Face melting beauty. RIP, sir.
  13. Post-pandemic trend continues, in that there's a LOT more indie-rock stuff. I'm sure it helps shoring up the bottom line, but it's not exactly what drew me to the festival years ago. Meh.
  14. I hear that, Steve. RTF never clicked for me either.
