  1. According to my server dude, the only way bandwidth will become a problem is if we start trading MP3s! :) He said text should not be an issue.

The only way we could trade MP3s is if I opened up the limit on the attachments, which I'm not going to do. You can't get much of an MP3 in 100k!

And like I said, if people start to abuse it by posting naked chicks or something (not that naked chicks aren't cool, it's just not what this board is about) then I'll disable it.

Best way to support this board* in a monetary way: Buy the CD! :g

*no purchase necessary to use this board! :)

  2. Wingy is welcome here. But if he purposely attacks another member in a threatening way, he'll get the boot.

That doesn't go for fart jokes. His jokes are lame, but they aren't threatening. My only rule here is no threats.

Also, keep in mind that there is a "Report this post" link at the bottom of every post. If you see something you think I should consider censoring, use that link.

A funny aside, the code for that button in this software is "go tell momma". I found that the other day. Hehe.

  3. You can host images here too. Use the "File Attachments" thingy below where you type your post in.

So, Dan, if you want to post an image from AAJ, save that image to your computer first by right clicking and choosing "Save As" (for Windows) and then attach it to your message. As long as it's under 512k, you'll be fine!

    :)

  4. Jim, I'm SO glad that one can write "Fuck it" here without fear of the evil eye.

We have no language filter here at all. I haven't even looked at that function. We're all big boys and girls. We've heard "dirty" words before.

    Language filters suck.

As Use3D said the other night, "If people are offended by the words fuck, shit, ass, etc. they shouldn't be on the internet."

  5. Bill,

The emails tend to lag behind the board software a bit. It'll show up sooner or later! :)

BTW, I still want to get you fascimilies of those organ album covers. I haven't forgotten. Maybe I can upload them to the server this week. I'll email you.

  6. Damn, three Leslies!!! I can hook up three Leslies to my organ. I've done it once, but not live. That would be spectacular! :) THE SOUND!

Do you still have those tapes you recorded, Michel?

  8. You have an "inbox" up in "My Controls". All PMs go there and will stay there until you delete them or until you run out of room to store them. At which point I believe any new PMs will take the place of the oldest. If you find yourself not having enough room, let me know.

  9. Sounds like you guys need to make up wacked out stories to fill the voids in live situations, like Peter Gabriel used to do with Genesis! :)

My sister has an mp3 of him telling this really really weird story while the band was tuning up. It's frickin' hilarious!

Watch out, Joe... if we start getting too crazy we won't get played on so-called "jazz" radio stations that play all those horrible vocalists re-hashing tired standards over and over again.

Oh wait... we don't get played on those stations anyway! GO ON!

    But I'm not bitter...

  10. This guys been around since the ol' Jazz Central Station days. Called himself DEEP in those days. Deep he definately is not. At least when he's posting.

The shame is that he DOES have an encyclopedic knowledge of this music. And he is a really good player. But he's a total shithead too.

Oh well. I'd much rather have you here, Betrand, than him! :)

  11. Not only that, but every organist that recorded at Rudy's studio used the same Hammond! Which blows my mind because it sounds so different with each player.

Granted, he mic'd the Leslie different for each player.

Note: My mentor believes that Rudy did not use a direct box along with mic'ing the Leslie on his recordings. He says he mic'd a Hammond speaker. (Hammond speakers are stationary, not moving like the Leslie). Anyone know for sure?

  12. Jim,

I'm using a Mac G4 Powerbook right now with Netscape and at first I had the same problem as you. The text was extremely small. This is an old version of Netscape too (not my computer... I'd update this bad boy in a flash).

In netscape, in the View menu, there is an option for increasing the font size, which helped tremendously.

Also, the colors are not right on this Mac either. The board should simply be purple (more violet actually) and orange. No pink. I can see pink on this Mac too and it's not right. The colors for our band logo are purple and orange so that's why I choose those colors. But there should be no pink.

  13. I actually had someone say that to me today at work. He came in, saw the CD sitting on my boss' desk and said, "Hey, is that you?"

"Yeah it's my new trio CD."

    "Cool man, how much?"

    "$15"

"Cool. I'll just have Skippy burn me a copy."

    And he was serious.

    I said, "I'd rather you didn't."

Reminds me of a story that a guitarist friend told me. He put out a solo guitar CD of Christmas tunes last December and he actually had a guy come up to him at a gig and say, "Man, I LOVED your Christmas disc! I burned copies for all my friends and they love it too!"

He then proceeded to tear into the guy.

    :)

  14. Jim, have you heard those MXL mics? You can get those "mic packs" which include a 2001 and a 603s for $155 for the PAIR! It's crazy. And they sound really good to my ears. Leaves more money to spend on good mic pre's! Those are still really expensive for the good stuff.
