I'll have to dig this out and listen again myself.
What happened to this cat anyhow?
-
(Is it just me, or does the winking-smilie look a little goofy over here?)
I can change that! In fact, we can add as many smilies as we want. If you have any suggestions, let me know.
He looks like he just got Botox treatment.

Crap! I gotta send CDStreet more stock! You guys have sold them out!
I'll do that tomorrow. Thank you for your orders. Let me know what you think.

Man, this was the most under-used forum at the ol' BNBB and it seems to be making that distinction for itself here! Oh well...
-
I'll have to check out those quartet dates....
-
My board pretty.

Self-service checkout is the hippest thing for personal lifestyle liberation since the Walkman. We've had it for a cuppla years at our Kroger (a Union store, btw, hmmmmm....). I'm outta there at least 50% faster on all but the biggest purchases.
Unless you get caught behind an old person who unplugs his VCR every night for fear that it will start a fire. Those people and computers are a very bad combination.

Hi everyone.
Can I ask the boss a question?
What would happen if all former BNBB members now at the AAJ forum came over here? What would be the monetary expense to our host? I would guess that things could get pretty expensive between b3-er and his hosting company.
True? False?
I'm wondering about that too! In all honesty, this software was free, so no charge there. My server space costs less than $100 a year, which is nothing. I'm not sure what happens if I start eating up a lot of bandwidth, but I'll ask!

I made it look a little prettier....

For the time being, I put a link at the very bottom of the page... but I don't want to keep it there... I'd rather have it next to "print this topic".

Ok, after working on this for three hours, I've decided to call it a nite. It's now 6am here in Michigan and I'm tired.
I can't understand why it doesn't work. All the code seems to be in place, yet no changes show up on these pages... it's very strange. I must be missing something extremely simple.
Anyone know html and care to help out?

If I told you...

Hey all,
If you don't have webspace to host your own avatar (the little pictures under your name on every post!) you can now upload them from your computer to the board server. They must be 100 x 100 pixels or less and under 20k in size. Click on "My Controls" in the upper right and go to "Edit Avatar Settings".
Have a nice day!
-
J Larsen,
Well, I edited some code and tried to upload my changes, but I keep getting an error. I think this is related to the avatar uploading problem we were having before. I can't seem to upload anything. I'm going to talk to my server dude about this. Might be some permissions I need to set on my directories.

I just found out that Jim's show aired at 1:00am tonight (technically Sunday). But our drummer taped the segment and he said some nice things about the group. Hopefully he'll keep playing tracks off the record.
-
wesbed,
Thank you! We are very proud of the disc. Joe (who posts on this board) and I have been together a long time and we've been dreaming of this record for years. It turned out as good as we could've hoped. We're hoping it takes us to the next level, which is at least regional exposure if not national.
We'll see!
-
Hmmm. I'll see what I can do. It might take a little bit. I'm not up to snuff on this software's code.
-
Man, I love his tone. Maybe I'm not hearing what you're hearing. I picked up a tenor sax just because of Stanley's tone. I realize I'll never be able to imitate it, but I love it.
Again, I suggest Queen of the Organ. That band swings so hard it's a crime!
-
No shit, Chuck. That's awesome! I wish I could've seen that show. Of course, I was three years old at the time! HA!

Hi everyone,
Just a quick note: Jim Wilke, the host of Jazz After Hours, will be playing a track off our new CD tomorrow (Sunday). His show is syndicated on 60 stations around the country so if you're home just chillin', consider tuning in. www.jazzafterhours.org
Also, tracks from our CD are being played via the internet on http://www.live365.com/stations/leslieoverdrive.

I don't understand the thin comment. His upper-register is maybe a little thin, but his main sound is PHAT! If you're on the fence about his playing, may I suggest the Shirley Scott record "Queen of the Organ". It's a live date on Impulse from the mid-60s and features some amazing work by Turrentine.
-
Seems to be working ok... we'll keep an eye on it.

I'm VERY fond of Lucky's Groove Merchant sides (is COOK COUNTY the McGriff side you refer to, Jim? There were two others.) , his last before his "disappearance". Very mellow-yet-deep stuff.
Yeah, the Cook County is the one I have. His disapperance? I haven't heard of this...
-
Andrew,
I'm glad you like it! Jim Wilke is playing it on his Jazz After Hours show out of Wake Forest, so maybe we can hook up a NC show somehow!! That would be fantastic!

This debate is interesting. Honestly, it's been exciting to see everyone come over here and it would be fantastic if y'all stuck around. Personally, the AAJ forums are nice, but ugly and the software is ugly. BUT, the moderator has been very accomodating to everyone.
It comes down to this: This place will be here. If things don't work out at AAJ, this place will be around.
But watch out! When Organissimo becomes famous you'll have a bunch of hippie, jam-band kids come in wanting to trade CDr's of live shows!
