  1. just what the doctor ordered. now can you move that avatar over a wee bit more? thanks
  2. who cares? ownership lineage is pretty pat. chewy has sites on a lineage of these releases as "born" one after the other so to speak. (i presume) it might be easier to call/cull out the bastard child thrown in between the prodigies. then all can argue about how one was really cute despite the big nose and chubby thighs or that the other should have been left at the convent doorstep.
  3. be cool if somebody here might please hit that red record button and then post the url link!
  4. The family and I were walking down a 90º Newbury Street yesterday and a group of Berkley guys akin to the Gorillaz - but much hipper - thumped into "Knucklehead". Impressed the kiddies (hardly) by calling the tune in the first few bass drops on the lead-in. I was very proud of myself. Simple things....
  5. Haven't seen this much intrigue between jazz and the arts since, well, the moderators usually shut down such threads, but... Was looking to see what John Lurie's been up to [aside from his "paintings"(loose quotes)] and stumbled into this. 2010 New Yorker article that sets the stage: Why did John Lurie disappear? John Perry Hunger Strike up to date: jphungerstrike.com thisartist: Perry on vimeo figured you downtowners in the know might be in the know. crazy
  6. I really don't follow. If you want the Heat to lose, why wouldn't doing it in 5 (or even 4) be better? Think ejp626 wants to check out the talent in Miami for the full three games there, just to make sure his HD tv is really working good... eggs ackley. my heart was w/ the Celtics but the goods in Miami sure look better than fat green shirts and beer. and the two zoom modes are doing fine.
  7. I'm all for beating the Heat at all costs but I will say that the behind the benches "talent" in Miami has me hoping this goes six. Know I know why Evan is a fan!
  8. I think there might have been a Noj thread long ago about this that had a good deal of hits. As far as more modern the Tru-Thoughts label is putting out some pretty good stuff as well and the flipside as Jim sez.
  9. just drove by a guy on 128 north of Boston playing the TRUMPET and driving .... had his windows up unfortunately but full blown cheeks with one hand on the wheel and the rest plunging away. much hipper than texting!!
  10. thanks, heard about this just recently and instantly forgot. those videos are great!
  11. Lloyd used to scuba-dive in the Ganges with Ravi.
  12. Curious if anyone has heard John Zorn's new "Nova Express" w/ Medeski, Wolleson, Dunn and Baron? I've only sampled and been hearing all those Hutcherson / Chambers / Hill things going and even a bit of "Lonely Woman" permeating a track like "Port of Saints".
  13. this week's "New Yorker" cover. so brilliant and so sad. my thoughts and prayers.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtJ6KLsoLl0 I've been meaning to look up 'Zamazu'. Thanks for the recommendation! Gilles Peterson's Havana Cultura Project has Fonseca all about and should be picked up immediately.
  15. The TOCJs kick Mosaic 50s like Jack Lambert on Mike Phipps!
