  1. Me too, mjzee! me three! Toni Basil may be the oldest one of them all(she's 70 now!) but still looks pretty darned good to me...google her and see what she looked like pre Micky
  2. Thanks for the links to the other tests... Glad to see in test 4, Leonard told him a few times he was wrong...as much as I like the BFT's, (Just read a Coltrane one on the web before looking here to see what was posted) I so wanted to hear what "they" thought after finding out they were wrong, sometimes way wrong on a test. Wonder why there weren't more after test conversations?
  3. She was 90 at the time, you may recall her playing vibes on Woody Herman's Laura.... http://www.jazzwax.com/2011/02/interview-marjorie-hyams.html Interview: Marjorie Hyams
  4. her Girdle saved the day! Have seasons 3 and 4 of Dragnet(they were really cheap at Target at one point) and no joke, she was in back to back episodes!(as different characters) The 2nd one, she kept sunglasses on throughout the show. I still figured out who it was though!
  5. Tune seems a bit familiar.... German really is a beautiful language when sung, isn't it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iSsVskUcfo&feature=youtu.be
  6. How's the weather? fanfreakintastic!!!! I like 60's in Feb
  7. My Dad, who is 82, and has his Dad's 1941 RCA Radio/record player (which plays both sides of the record, but sadly doesn't work anymore) was blown away by this clip. Had no idea they had automatic changers that early(In fact, the same guy has a clip of a 1928 Victor that's pretty cool too-just great footage of this units operation) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87P7xygDcs0
  8. someone...from the Firehouse Five Plus Two...like Ward Kimball....
  9. the really good news is you don't have to worry about bumping into Beyonce over there!
  10. It's gotta be the hair that's keeping him out. Gotta be! A very nice, very long story on Tom Seaver. Funny, just saw an interview with him that Bob Costas did(think it was actually from a few years back) on mlbtv....still pretty angry about the Mets for trading him.... http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/64585192/?partnerId=ed-7790882-631964743
  11. Not that I have much disposable income these days, but feel terrible I didn't even know about them going out of business....just went looking for them for the first time in a long time. ....whats weird was I just went to check them out and saw a little message on their site that says, We'll be back soon.... http://worldsrecords.com/ do you think they will come back, or is that just a generic placeholder message?
  12. Man, my Boy Ted Simmons, just doesn't get any love! I just have to believe he wasn't popular with writers. More hits than Joe Medwick, .Frank Thomas, Jim Rice, .Pie Traynor, or Micky Mantle, More RBI's than Joe Medwick, Johnny Bench, Johnny Mize, Mike Piazza, Duke Snider, Ivan Rodriguez, Carlton Fisk OBP was .3479, or virtually in a tie with Yogi, .3478 Hit .300 or better 7 times (Bench never hit .300) and for 7 straight seasons, ( 1972 to 1978) he played in at least 150 games each year, which I guess isn't bad for a chain smoking...CATCHER!!!! Not saying he's necessarily better than those (mainly) HOF'ers, but he should get in eventually...seems he is punished for being on many terrible Cardinal teams, and for being 2nd best to Johnny Bench all those years. As much as I dislike Steve Garvey (always knew he was a phony goody goody) he was money, with games on the line, and in the playoffs...and being good/great come the playoffs, really doesn't seem to matter much come HOF voting time.... Ask Dave Stewart, Jack Morris, etc, etc, etc....
  13. So, how do the Yankees fans feel about Cano leaving? Sorry he got 10 years, I was really hoping those days were over...funny to see the Yankees getting a bunch of draft picks (ok, 2) losing Cano and Granderson. Can't help but feel the Rays, Toronto and Baltimore feel pretty good seeing the Yankees and Red Sox lose so many key players. Oh, forgot the Rays did get to the playoffs,(they left so quickly, like the braves did) but sure cost themselves a chance to win the division keeping Myers on the farm....
  14. From what I have read, Ellsbury wasn't even offered 9 figures, so can you really blame him if there was at least a 50 Mil difference? Red Sox almost seem to have the Yankees until this offseason view that anyone we throw out there will do fine...Scrappy is great, you can win W.S. with scrappiness , but it's hard to win year after year that way.. If Ortiz falls back to earth, no Ellsbury, and if Napoli goes elsewhere...that seems like a pretty weak offense. A(SSHOLE) J will thrill everone with his sub .300 OBP! .luckily for you guys, the Yankees haven't addressed pitching..yet (and that new limit on the posting system is stupid, teams in Japan aren't going to give up guys for 20 Mil, when they could get 70+ mil in the past selling a guy) and the Rays are so piss poor that they ruined their playoff chances leaving Wil Myers in the minors til they could pay him less 3 years down the road....and will likely trade Price because he too will want what great pitchers get paid....
  15. Jim, don't forget your old buddy Lance Berkman! Well, the real evil empire are about to sign Brian McCann.... I thought he might get more moola, but I wonder if he didn't want such a massive contract, that he would be a player fans love to hate.... Will be interesting to see how many more homers he hits in Yankee stadium....some guys splits (like Robinson Cano) aren't all that different home vs away
  16. are you wedded to I.E. ? Try Mozilla and see if you have the same issues....
  17. The thing about that trade (Fielder, Kinsler, not Burke Badenhop for Luis Ortega, ) Is who bats behind Cabrera now? Even though Josh Hamilton had a pretty crappy year with the Angels, I think it's fairly safe to say the Rangers missed what offense he supplied in the past. One of the reasons the Rangers got Fielder, correct? And as big as Fielder is, he played in every game last year. In fact, he has missed 1 game in the past 5 years. Who knows which guys will fall off the table at what age? Who would have though David Ortiz would be the most feared hitter in the playoffs, at 37? Obviously, some people just fall off a cliff (Andruw Jones last good season was at 29) but better hitters by and large seem to hold on to their goodness, if not greatness. I'd rather have Fielder at 37, than Cano at 40 if someone is dumb enough to give him a 10 year deal. Funny to see the Tigers cry poor...or something. People still seem to be eating a lot of pizza...and teams are trying to stay real quiet about this, but every team in baseball is getting an extra 25 Mil a year from the new MLB tv contract . Shhh, don't let the fans know , they might not believe us if we say we can't spend any money this offseason. Guess the Tigers can use this "Savings" to re-sign Johnny Peralta for mere 56 to 75 Mil
  18. The braves(How long ago were they "America's Team"?) have a terrible, terrible tv contract....IF I had been buying the team and found out about that recently signed tv deal, I would have said the offer would be $200,000,000 less...don't know why someone hasn't looked into that deal, clearly someone at Time/Warner was paid off....a bit more about the deal.... The Braves deal, negotiated as the team was being sold by Time Warner to Liberty Media in 2007, is believed to be worth less than $20 million annually to the team. Some have said that figure is closer to $10 million annually, which would place it at the bottom of the major league scale. The Dodgers are still in negotiations with Fox on a record-setting local TV deal that reportedly will be worth at least $6 billion over 25 years, which works out to at least $240 million annually, completely dwarfing the Braves’ deal. http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/baseball/braves-ceo-says-tv-deal-isnt-crippling/nTyd4/
  19. I could watch Barbara Eden for hours....In fact, I would still be doing it, but, the restraining order and all....
  20. How lame...more sports "fans" would rather watch 2 lousy football teams than the W.S. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/24/vikings-giants-generates-higher-rating-than-world-series-game-1/
  21. Well, if I had a nickel for every game I have seen that ended on an obstruction play....I'd have 5 cents! Sucks that a game had to end that way... You know what else sucks? That ratings for the W.S. keep dropping....some possible explanations given here... http://www.policymic.com/articles/70113/world-series-2013-ratings-baseball-needs-to-get-its-groove-back
  22. Since I just now Saw Mr. Sangrey Have Gun Will Travel, several months ago(I was going backwards trying to find out what season I was talking about) and that he had started a thread on in the show a few years ago, thought what the heck, let's see if the thread can be brought back to life. I am just watching Season 4 via netflix, and I have to say, S4 is better overall, than S3. Sure doesn't hurt that they really improved the transfers for S4(Wonder if they use the same transfers for Encore, or if these transfers are just for DVD? Don't have Encore) Not just visually(Richard Boone's naturally craggly face is now something that looks like it's slightly rougher than the surface of most mountains) but they really improved the sound quality too. Amazingly good for a tv show from the 50's...wait, it was 60 when S4 started. Anyway, still quite impressed that a show that put out 39 episodes a year(and 26 min shows, and with some hour long shows only 42 Minutes today, it's basically 2/3rds the length of an hour drama) and that Richard Boone, who basically is in 90% of all scenes, decided he just wasn't doing enough, and started to direct some episodes too. They are often some of the more stagey, but interesting shows. He is less likely to kill in shows he directed, I have noticed. Or if he does kill someone, it's someone that really isn't all that bad, was given a 2nd chance, but refuses to take it. I have seen shows were someone is so irredeemably bad, you are aching , just aching to see them killed. And they aren't. Other times, a fairly lovable old coot shows up, cheerful music starts playing, and well...you just know they will be best buds, then the coot shoots at Paladin, and he has to kill him. You can see how having to kill wears on Paladin , but for whatever reason(he surely has to have enough money in the bank to retire) he keeps on keeping on. Amazing the faces you see in shows. Hal Needham the director/stuntman, also acted a bit and shows up quite a bit now. Looks like a young James Brolin. Just watched an episode last night that had Peter Falk(in a fancy suit, with hat and horn rimmed glasses, it took me a minute to figure out who it was) and Brett Somers, yes, that Brett Somers from Match Game. Didn't recognize the face, but that voice, you just can't miss. Mike Mazurki, Ken Curtis , pre Festus shows up twice, and sings BEAUTIFULLY in one show. Had no idea he sang for Tommy Dorsey , Shep Fields, and the Sons of the Pioneers! Man, CBS should pay me for this writeup, but if you like Westerns at all, heck, even if you don't, you really should give this show a chance.
