I’m confused a bit by this thread. Back when I shopped more at brick and mortar places I almost never saw Venus releases. Have Venus releases been more available in Europe? Is the thirst for Venus product so great in Japan that their domestic market can support this number of releases?

As to their sound, the cds I have had access to all are noticeably louder at a given volume than pretty much any other cds I own.

That’s a great question. I’ve only got a few Venus releases and don’t find any of them particularly interesting.

I do hope it is bullshit - but an organization such as USPS (or any federal or state agency) is not likely to be following today the same procedures that it followed dozens of years ago.

On the contrary, governmental work is so slow to change it is more likely we’re all gone off this blue marble before a change is ever made. Even that tool DeJoy was only able to temporarily damage the already poor service of the usps, and that was his only objective.

That’s when I started watching him then too. I agree with you about Fremer. When Mike said he had a conflict of interest because he received free product from ERC he claimed that had nothing to do with anything. Although Mike is a retailer he still strikes me as a straight shooter.

Do you ever watch 45 RPM Audiophile’s channel. It can be interesting although there is a certain sameness to it after awhile. However, he has developed a name and does have good guests.

I haven’t watched any 45 RPM Audiophile videos. I’ll check it out. I only watch about a third of Espositos videos. They only channel I consistently watch is Channel 33 RPM because I really like Frank and they are short. I follow Noble Records but never watch it anymore.

Mike Esposito had a way of getting under a lot of people’s skin. He did several videos on ERC that caused waves, especially with Fremer. They did a video together; I think Acoustic Sounds moderated it. It was funny to see Fremer squirm.

Mike’s YouTube channel is a worthwhile watch.

The people at Hoffman amply discussed the MoF issue; I think the thread is up to 710 pages.

Esposito’s YouTube is a good watch most of the time and he does irritate a lot of people. I started watching him when he was dragging ERC for their quality. He made a good argument. The beef with him and Fremer was hilarious. Fremer is a tool imo. He’s the quintessential audiophile dork.

I just can’t believe Esposito is only 37… I would have guessed much older.

Hmm.  I would say that the deception is an aspect of the uproar.  Mo-Fi lied.  No doubt about that.

But the REASON that Mo-Fi lied is because a large segment of their customer base wants an exclusively analog sound reproduction chain.   So I would say that sound IS very much a part of the scandal.  It's not the sound of the records; it's people's ideas about the sound of the records.

People are quoted in the article as saying they wish they hadn't purchased the records, now that they know Mo-Fi used DSD.  Why?  The sound of the records hasn't changed.  The only thing that has changed is their knowledge of how the records were made.

That's the abstraction that I was referring to.  And that's the part that strikes me as odd.

Then again, there are plenty of people who look at all my CDs and LPs  and say, "You know that you can stream music now.  No need for all that stuff cluttering up your basement."  They think I'm crazy.  So I guess I'm a guy living in a glass house who needs to be careful about throwing stones. :P

This might be my favorite breakdown of everything. Spot on Hutch!

    Thanks for this post.

Never listened to most artists listed.

    So now playing:

    NS01NjczLmpwZWc.jpeg

Recorded in '02, released in '05 with Brian Walsh, Michael Ibarra, Rich West & Noah Phillips. In line with the Carter/Bradford discussion above, track 2 "You Say" is parenthetically dedicated to Bradford.

Brian Walsh is a beast. I’ve seen him in a few different settings and he always impresses.

I actually pulled it out because it has Gary Bartz on it and I've read on Facebook that Gary has had to cancel a few appearances due to his health, so I wanted to spin something of his. I should've spun his live date from Birdland, "There Goes The Neighborhood", which is smokin'.

I also found Source of Inspiration a bit lackluster than I was expecting it to be. Should probably spin it again. With that said “There Goes the Neighborhood” is KILLER! Gary’s solo on On A Misty Night is my favorite solo of all-time.

    You're a very forgiving person.

Honestly I was very upset when it happened. But I realized there is a lot of music available on Apple Music to get me by and I still have access to the music just not as conveniently. Plus more obscure stuff seems to appear all the time.

  9. I didn’t have any issues with Apple Music uploading my library until I surpassed the 10,000 album limit. Then it lost everything and it won’t take everything on one upload. I have to delete any album from Apple Music on my desktop that I want on the cloud and add it back. I’ve made peace with the issue.

94 rated!  They don't come much better than that!

I'm finding that cigars are consistently better constructed than they were twenty years ago, but not as delicious as my favorites were.  Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I put in an offer of $100 for a box and they accepted.
