  1. She sure is beautiful! I have to say, I think Zora is a very pretty name. Congratulations to you!
  2. hey tony you got good taste!
  3. Has anyone else read Groucho : The Life and Times of Julius Henry Marx? I HIGHLY recommend it.
  4. I remember seeing a webpage that supposedly had soundclips of Harpo in an interview or something.
  5. Groucho - "and then I bagged six tigers" Mrs Rittenhouse - "Oh captain! Did you really catch six tigers?" Groucho - "I bagged em! I bagged em to go away but they hung around all afternoon. They were the most PERSISTENT tigers I've EVER seen."
  6. here's another question for you fellas. Now, not having any money hasn't so far done anything great for my music collection, so you can understand why I usually skip past the box sets (it only make me want them more! ). But, on this site I have seen much talk about the mosaics. Are these sets in stores or online exclusively? Do I have to go to a jazz music speakeasy and say the secret password to even get a look? P.S. - Underground, I thank you for the really nice offer, but see my money situation above! Plus, I KNOW I don't have anything in my collection that you guys don't already own or know about (very small collection).
  7. I recently had the amazing chance to see this man locally. He didn't play, but he conducted the universities big bands on some of his compositions. Does anyone have any good rec's to make on his albums, compositions, or anything else they can think of? What are the opinions here of his stuff?
  8. Dan, imho, this is your perfect opportunity to just stop caring about all the B.S. (which is the whole point of ignoring the political forums, yes?) I like what you're trying to do and just wanted to give you some encouragement.
  9. Congrats and good luck on the new gig, Paul!!
  10. Aww hell yeah! That guy knocks my socks off. I remember my friend telling me how amazing he was and I just couldn't believe it until he actually played some stuff for me.
  11. Um actually it isn't unreasonable to hear "row row row your boat" and think 4 - since 6/8 is a compound duple meter. If someone hears it in 4 then they are just interpreting it as a compound quadruple meter. Not a big difference...
  12. Or Bobby Mcferrin. Please no one laugh at me....
  13. I thought "row row row your boat" was in 12/8?? Measures of 4 beats divided into 3 even subdivisions? I am probably wrong, but I always thought the main difference between 3/4 and 6/8 (besides the notational differences) were in the articulations and phrasing. In compound time the groups of three will sound and feel like subdivisions of the beat and in simple time each pulse in the group of three will feel like the base pulse. I guess I always try and see whether or not I feel comfortable tapping my foot once every three pulses (compound time) or with every pulse in the group of three (simple time).
