  1. 15 minutes to go on the auctions for the last of these box sets! http://www.ebay.com/sch/slbrownhk/m.html?_adv=1&_dmd=1&_in_kw=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1
  2. Less than 24 hours to go on some great music and other goodies. Check it out!
  3. Hey everybody, I'm back with a new round of auctions. All the Mosaic and other jazz box sets I was selling privately, plus dozens of SACDs and other good stuff, have been listed on eBay. Check 'em out, and thanks: http://www.ebay.com/sch/slbrownhk/m.html?_adv=1&_dmd=1&_in_kw=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1
  4. Thanks again to everyone who bought sets from me here. The sets that didn't sell by the deadline I set have now been listed on eBay, with reduced starting prices--could be a good chance to pick up a set or two on the cheap. Check it out: http://www.ebay.com/sch/slbrownhk/m.html?_adv=1&_dmd=1&_in_kw=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1 Good luck!
  5. The Stitt went for $21.28. Not huge, but not terrible, either. Might be slightly above what I originally paid for it. Even I missed that golden age. By the time I became aware of and interested in VEEs, they must have been long gone from retail. I had to buy them all online, through auctions, etc. It took me forever to find them all.
  6. And the Collector's Disc went way cheap! Oh, they all sold, including Billy Bauer. Someone's a lucky man--I listen to this one more than any of the other titles. I love the opening track.
  7. Many thanks to all who bid, and congratulations to all the winners! The highest bid was for the Bellson CD--I never would have expected that. Schifrin was a close second, which I think everyone would have expected to be first.
  8. Yes, I do combined shipping at actual cost. Can be a pretty significant savings if you buy a lot of stuff!
  9. I believe that's all of them. I worked long and hard to find all those CDs, and while this might possibly be my favorite reissue series ever done, it was time to let them go. Now someone else can enjoy them...particularly that Dickerson date. That's my favorite of the bunch, hence my "vibes" handle. I am actually in the process of clearing everything out, and the reasons why probably deserve their own post. One of these days I may write them all down.
  10. If you have good eBay feedback, I will ship outside the US. Thanks for asking.
  11. I've just listed dozens more SACDs and other cool items. Check it out, and thanks: http://www.ebay.com/sch/slbrownhk/m.html?_adv=1&_dmd=1&_in_kw=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1
  12. From my own collection, every Verve Elite ever put out. Here's your chance to get 'em all or fill in a hole in your collection. Link: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=Verve+Elite&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_okw=Verve+Elite&_oexkw=&_adv=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_ftrt=901&_ftrv=1&_sabdlo=&_sabdhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=200&_fpos=Zip+code&_fsct=&LH_SALE_CURRENCY=0&_fss=1&_fsradio=%26LH_SpecificSeller%3D1&_saslop=1&_sasl=slbrownhk&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50 Thanks for looking!
  13. One day left on my current auctions. Check 'em out, and thanks!
  14. Up with a number of changes. These will go to eBay after Sunday, so get 'em while they're hot and cheap!
  15. I've just listed 100 more items: SACDs, Blu-rays, HD DVDs and more. Check it out: http://www.ebay.com/sch/slbrownhk/m.html?_adv=1&_dmd=1&_in_kw=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1 Thanks for looking, bidding and buying!
  16. Bump with a bunch of price reductions. These will go to eBay in a few days, so get 'em while they're cheap! Thanks to all for your interest thus far.
  17. A final bump before this week's auctions end. 2hrs 45min to go. Thanks for looking!
  18. Bumping this up for Thursday. Thanks again for your interest.
  19. O'Day, Evans, Lee/Christy, and Nichols are gone. Ellington is on hold. Thanks, everybody!
  20. Bump for Monday. Again, thanks to everyone for your interest!
  21. Happy to do so, and thanks for the kind words. I hope they'll all find good homes with other board members.
  22. On what theory is played two times vs one time (or many more times) informative about condition? Discs played a thousand times are indistinguishable from discs played once, or never, if they are handled in such a way that they don't get dropped or scuffed in some way. If these were LPs, "played once" means something (assuming there aren't any manufacturing flaws like "bubbles"). CDs, not so much. I agree. I think it'd be more helpful to grade the sets and booklets the usual way ("very good", "excellent", "near mint"). There's an excellent grading system on another board: Mint (M): Looks like the wrapper just came off. No marks of any kind anywhere on the complete package. Mint minus (M-) or Near Mint (NM): Very near perfect playing surface and artwork. When held at an angle under extreme lighting you can see perhaps 1 or 2 very light scratches or pin dots. Excellent (Exc.):CDs in this condition look used, but like they were taken good care of. Only a few very light scuffs can be seen when the disc is held at an angle to the light. The booklet and inserts are present and have only a few very minor flaws such as a slight bend or light fingerprints Very Good plus (VG+): No more than 10 very light to light scratches between 1/8" and 2". Artwork has case dents or a crease. Plays perfectly. Very Good (VG) : CDs in this condition are more for listening to than collecting. The disc is heavily scratched but can be played through without skipping. The booklet and inserts are present but heavily worn, and may include heavy fingerprints, bent corners, smudges, creases, case dimple marks, and writing. Poor (P): Car CD or Cat toy Another thought: it would also help to know how many CDs a box has. Thanks, I'll take that all under advisement for the future. At this point in time, I have no plans to change any of the above descriptions, having listed in the introductory paragraph my opinion on what the condition of the sets is, with any deviation from that opinion listed with each individual set. With a (more than) full-time job and over 500 auctions in the last two months, with thousands more to come, I don't have much more time I can invest in this. I'm happy to answer any questions that come my way about individual sets, however, and appreciate all inquiries. Again, thanks.
