  3. Thanks. I was reading an article about that, of course, and was confused, as here "grammar school" and "elementary school" are the same thing.
  4. I'm afraid I've been bitten by that "divided by a common language" thing again-help me out. What's the difference between an elementary school and a grammar school?
  5. Been watching Mission: Impossible. Why they took an intelligent series and turned it into another dreary action film series is beyond me. But, I can ignore the films and still enjoy the show.
  6. Cool. Can't say I care for the photos too much, though the poem hits home.
  7. Um...are you trying to tell us something with this recent obituary obsession? You're starting to make me nervous...
  8. Finally saw this one. I have to admit, for a superhero movie, this one was pretty good. But is it just me? This CGI stuff they use today hits similar to the way static on an old AM radio does. Seriously, my brain won't process this stuff-at times it just looks like noise. It works fine in an animated feature, but in live action, it just doesn't work.

  11. None of the other major sports could possibly match baseball for "stat usefulness". Just the fact that each play can be isolated gives baseball an edge that can never be matched by basketball or hockey. Also, the pace of the game is an advantage. With other sports, you're forced to go back later and analyze the game; with baseball you could get into a statistical discussion between pitches.

  13. Now that I have no dog in this fight, I think if you're not blowing at least a grand on the day, you're not really trying. So, looking at it that way, I've saved ten grand in the last ten years...
  14. I tried Facebook for a couple of months and realized that if I'd wanted to stay in touch, I would have. But I have to plead guilty to the internet addict thing. Right now it's my TV, my stereo, and in this little town, my only view out into the world. And the article rings true to me; this has definitely reduced my attention span. I'll go watch twenty minutes of a movie, play a game for ten minutes, come here and catch up, watch another twenty minutes of a movie (maybe the same one, maybe not) and then suddenly it's time to go to bed and I haven't cracked a book or even washed the dishes. Not good.
