  1. Very sad to read about Bill's passing. I too have some of his CDs and will play them. Very friendly interactions.
  2. I didn't ask too many details, keeping some elements of surprise, so not sure. But I think it is a quartet date, and like often with Sam records was recorded in Paris. Maybe @Pim could make an educated guess based on this?
  3. Yes! This should be excellent. Around the period of the Free At Last record. Also heard about a Django Reinhardt 1953 record (The Great Artistry of ~) that would be in the Artisan series.
  4. Looking forward to seeing the Robert Ryman exhibit in Paris (Musée de l'Orangerie), this coming Sunday or next week. It's called "Le regard en actes" (more or less the view in action). First large scale exhibit of the artist in France since 1981.
  5. Enjoying this greatly, as well as the Heath brothers live record. Also like getting these directly at Fred's shop in my area and having a chat. Nice upcoming records too from what I hear!
  6. Watching the live stream at Oto right now (McPhee - Adasiewicz duo). Wish I could be there.
  7. It did for me (first JSP set), such great music and pretty good sound for music recorded 90 years ago.
  8. Interesting listen, thanks for pointing it out!
  9. Welcome back! Always appreciated Mr Kart’s writing and music recommendations.
  10. Would love to see him again. Had tickets for a show in Paris that was eventually cancelled about a year and a half ago.

    Excellent set!
  12. #866 here. Incredible collection, and have only reached CD5, taking my time with this box set. Sound is also impressive.
  13. Just received. Most exciting release for me perhaps since the Coleman Hawkins box set, for the anticipation part. On to listening, and perfect, the week-end is here!
  14. Haha, you're right, this is lucky. The selection at Gibert Joseph in the latin quarter in Paris remains really good, and the employees of the jazz section very enthusiastic, despite the move downstairs and loss of space. The shop was a mainstay during my student years, one could find really good second hand CDs on a tight budget.
  15. Got this through jazzmessengers, should be here next week!
  16. Just started this today. Seen quite a few Fassbinder movies, interested in the social and political context and enjoyed Penman's style in his last collection of essays which was on musicians.
  17. Heard it at the music store (Candid CD reissue) and had to get it. Didn't know of this Giuffre record!
  18. Very sad. Such a fantastic musician!
  19. Was meaning to post this earlier, February 4: Christian Marclay graphic scores interpreted by Jacques Demierre (2009 score), by Noël Akchoté, Julien Eil, John Butcher, Luc Mueller and Noelle Reymond (2016 and 2005), Elaine Mitchener (2020), Alex ABH Hackett (2010). Excellent complement to the really good exhibit at the Modern Art Center in Paris.
  20. Tonight in Paris: Mai Sugimoto (as), Raymond Boni (g), Paul Rogers (b), Anton Hatwich (b) Part of the Bridge project. Percussionnist Camille Emaille as first part.
