  1. Spinning Duke Ellington "At His Very Best" RCA Victor LP1715 I need to install that mono cartridge I bought a couple weeks back..
  2. Earlier, it was 'Soul Bag' by Mongo Santamaria, then Sonny Boy Williamson "King Biscuit Time" on Arhoolie. Now I guess I am going to put on "Sophisticated Giant" next. Picked up a nice copy for a couple bucks recently at an estate sale. Ten boxes of vinyl and about 20 vinyl buyers and I was sixth in line so had to decide which one to go from the ones unoccuppied. The one I picked had the Dexter, a Monk, In a Silent Way, a couple of Gil Scott-Heron's and a Nathan Davis lp, "If." Also got a couple nice Bill Wither lps. I think I picked the right box.
  3. Currently spinning side one of "Spring" by Anthony Williams. Picked up this stereo copy last Friday at an amazing estate sale at a loft in downtown Pittsburgh. There were over 2000 LPs individually priced for sale. I'll start a thread elsewhere shortly.
  4. Going through a pile of LPS I purchased at an estate sale probably last spring, Lots of Duke Ellington, Ella and Satchmo were in the pile I got to first that day but probably listened to just some of the Duke stuff since then Decided to correct that today so its Louis and Ella the rest of the day. Currently spinning side two of a mono 6 eye of Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five Vol 1
  5. So, What Are You Listening To NOW?

Currently spinning Dolphy's 'Outward Bound", a first press on New Jazz. Several years ago, I met a fellow selling off his late brothers collection of stuff. Among the "stuff" were around 40000 lps. Seller was not a jazz fan but knew to charge $2 for the Miles lps. After several visits, I had acquired several hundred very good records, including about 50 gems (first pressings of Sonnys Crib, Go!, Newks Time, Soul Stirrin', Jackie McLeans first among others) Some were in rough shape but most all were playable. It was like a dream....
  6. Was cranking "Die Like a Dog" box by Peter Brotzmann. Lots of energy there!
  7. Another box from Freejazz's collection. Getting down to just a few dozen primo out of print box sets And there are some real sweet ones that I'd love to keep but, since haven't listened to many of the boxes that I bought when I met Scott around this time last year, my less obsessive module says let them go! This is a nice four disc box with a thick 100 page booklet. Music and poetry from the 20s and 30s, Harlem renaissance style. Has a black ink mark thru the UPC but otherwise, like just about everyone one of the several hundred boxes I've sold from this collection, its in very good condition Post here then PM Paypal Asking $32 shipping included

  17. Sale pending (and thanks from me and Scott for the encouraging words, fellows. I bought this new for the silly original price. I still love it.)
  18. I'm helping fellow member Freejazz sell off his massive collection. He is of course meticulous audiophile type, so all box sets are well cared for and from smoke free home. I suspect many of these were played just once, if even that. I spot checked these and haven't found a mark on most of the discs, but for now will conservatively grade all sets as VG+ though other will rate them higher (like NM-) Feel free to ask any questions Shipping to US only Payment is via PayPal. If interested, please respond in thread and then PM. Thank you Have a Mono box for sale in near mint condition. I verified with Scott that these have not been played. He already had the individual albums. Everything is like new, booklet, sleeves, etc.. This set is exactly the same (aside from the price) as the box I purchased at Barnes and Noble about 10 years ago, so no concern about if its counterfeit. $100 includes shipping Media Mail Thanks for looking. Mike
