  1. The Oblivion Express (studio albums) box (6-LP or 6-CD) is coming out in October (20th or so). https://www.facebook.com/soulbankmusic
  2. Another low-priced Japanese reissue, 3 Tete Montoliu Timeless releases, Man From Barcelona/Secret Love/Yellow Dolphin Street (3CD set) Recently picked up 4 of these releases, 3 of which (including this one) to explore musicians I'd heard little from.
  3. Not that long ago, Leo Records was advertising some kind of liquidation / going out of business sale. There's a thread on the forum somewhere. So I'm puzzled. It shows on discogs as a 2023 release, but no offerings. I'd expect offerings pretty soon. Squidco is sometimes a good source, but I drew a complete blank there and their search engine doesn't even recognize Amina Claudine Myers as a possible leader.
  4. Thanks, I really enjoyed the music (with some qualms about #2) but didn't have anything to add to the main thread. Following the "forum visitor" hint, my guess for #5 was Frank Kimbrough, but I couldn't come up with an album/track. Have to explore the Solal! Also a fan of Deuchar. Jarrett was obvious but I didn't have a track. I have the Yamamoto/Yamashita/Togashi "Breath" and it's very good. But I slightly prefer "Ginkai" or "Silver World" (both titles sometimes used) for a quartet recording with Kikuchi/Peacock/Murakami. Youtube here I really should have gotten the Yamamoto/Berger and (especially) Schneiderman. Excuse is that I've never heard those particular recordings. Weirdly, I ran down a mental list of NY-based boppish pianists who might have appeared on #13, but inexplicably spaced Schneiderman and consequently drew a blank. 🙄
  5. I like that one! Another Japanese reissue bundle (3 Enjas: Zimbabwe, Good News from Africa, African Sketchbook)
  6. J.R. Monterose 3 CD Set: T.T.T., Is Alive in Amsterdam Paradiso, Body and Soul [Limited Release] Japanese 1,800 yen reissue of 3-cd bundle: 2 Timeless and one Storyville. Too lazy to look up cover art for all 3, though I'm partial to T.T.T. due to J. R.'s uncanny resemblance to Moe Howard in the photo. 😅
  7. I recall some quite good Tzadik releases in the (admittedly vague) "contemporary classical" and "microtonal" categories. Not sure there's enough interest here to merit putting together a list.
  8. I could many of your posts, but don't like to post often. Being a Frank Strozier fan, making an exception here.
  9. Is there any reason I should care about that fellow's opinion? Name vaguely rings a bell as some kind of famous rock musician...Oasis? had to google to confirm, [s]never heard any of their music[/s]. Correction, I have heard Champagne Supernova, possibly some more tunes I can't recall.
  10. Thanks, good to know. I'll leave it on the want list and hope for a compelling offering. I enjoy the Barbara Thompson BBC box and don't have any problem with those BBC announcers...they must get more air time on the Nucleus set.
  11. I love Nucleus's 6-CD Torrid Zone box set on Esoteric. Have often been tempted by the BBC set, but could never justify purchase given that significant box from the same era I already own.
  12. I loved baseball as a kid. The 1966 World Series (Orioles in stunning 4-0 upset of Dodgers) was the first Fall Classic that really got my attention. Here's an extended Brooks Robinson highlights reel:
  13. Thanks for the info, hadn't heard of it. Artistically it seems like a no-win proposition, but there's undoubtedly good money to be made. That was never my favorite Pink Floyd album and I've heard it too many times over the years, so no interest in acquiring. But I'll listen to a couple of the tunes if available for free.
  14. Good stuff. Damn, I have that album and often listen to it! Rare occurrence...our musical preferences don't overlap all that much. 😉 I'm not sure of the definition of "defiant jazz". Does this work?
  15. I donated last night, holding up my end of the deal. Hope things are looking up in Seatle. 🙂
  16. Cue the litany of "I prefer Hoffman forum" posts. 🤣
  17. True, that. How about this...I contribute, you correct the spelling of Mr. Priester's surname in the header. 😉
  18. Interesting 2015 interview w. much discussion of that album: https://www.thestranger.com/music/2015/01/05/21356118/jazz-legend-julian-priester-reflects-on-his-fusion-classic-love-love-sun-ra-herbie-hancock-and-a-lot-more
  19. Did you bother to contact the repair shop about recourse? Serious question, I might have given up and accepted the loss.
  20. I wound up ordering four, but via CDJapan because of order size (a couple of other things thrown in). Got filled on all: JR Monterose, Attila Zoller, Dollar Brand and Tete Montoliu.
  21. https://craftrecordings.com/collections/vinyl/products/hot-house-the-complete-jazz-at-massey-hall-recordings-3-lp-box-set 🤣
  22. Not from me, he won't. 😆
  23. [emphasis added] As is Ithaca, NY, which was mentioned above. Too bad Stereo Jack rarely visits (I hope he's doing well)...he might be able to comment on Bahston, one of the ultimate progressive college towns*. *Despite what Spinal Tap said. 😉
