  1. By buying his records (plenty of them), I go against the artist? Didn't know that.

    Turntables

I don't understand this classification into "audiophile" and "standard consumer". Certainly not when it comes to Project. This is a mass producer of turntables. The only difference to the other brands you mentioned is that Project basically only produces turntables (yes, I know, they also have some electronic components). You can get $$$$$ turntables from Technics (= Panasonic) and $$$ turntables from Project. Why are the former "standard consumer" products and the latter "audiophile"? I don't get it. If I were looking for an entry level (we all have different ideas of what that actually is) turntable, I would be looking at this: https://www.analogplanet.com/content/sl-1500c-technics-cuts-price-not-sound-quality.
  3. Now streaming the Hank Mobley Mosaic 50s and 60s box sets from my mobile phone in the car. Even the family likes these 14 CDs.
  4. Yes! But what did they do with the cover photograph? Way too much contrast. Looks like a white double bass. Martin Davidson at Emanem did a better job.
  5. Amir ElSaffar. I am always late to the party... Looking forward to see him live in Melbourne in May.
  6. Ouch! I saw BD about 25 years ago in Singen/Germany. My second live jazz experience (first was Myra Melford). Still have the signed promo poster from that tour in my music room but colors are fading away.
  7. Yes, but not their main business. I think you can see (part of?) their inventory on discogs (seller dutch-vinyl). That's where I found the Plugged Nickel box as well.
  8. In general, I agree. The only one I visit occasionally is Dutch Vinyl in Abbotsford. They also sell excellent inner and outer LP sleeves. Recently bought a new "Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel" CD box set from them for a fair price. Quality Records in Malvern is closing, which is a shame. They were my local source of Speakers Corner and Pure Pleasure.
  9. I use ISO-PUCKs from the same brand between monitors and speakers stand.Good product. (I had Contour 1.3 in the past before I moved to active speakers).
  10. Yes, there are still some 2nd hand vinyl shops in Melbourne's trendy suburbs. But it must be a tough market. Just last month two independent record stores announced that they are going out of business, one of them after 40 years in Melbourne.
  11. Yes, a Brinkmann Bardo (with Jelco SA-750EB tonearm, Acoustical Systems arche headshell and Ikeda 9TS MC cartridge). Do you still have your Lagrange? Haha, easy to look down on reissues (Maseratis) when you have original pressings (Ferraris). I guess everyone would prefer these but they are nearly impossible to find in near mint condition. And if you find one, expect to pay $$$$.
  12. Very happy with my 1992 Analogue Productions stereo.reissue, remastered by Doug Sax. One of the very first AP reissues.
  13. Got this call for support from his daughter, Serena Cobb, via Legacy Recordings: https://www.gofundme.com/f/jimmy-cobb?cid=nl267037&utm_medium=email_SFMC&utm_source=6383315&utm_campaign=email-267037-202025&utm_content=nllink-8807363-MilesDavis_News_Support+for+Jimmy+Cobb Happy to help.
