  1. Yes, you can buy them on the Big O website: http://www.big-o-records.com/zen-cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=23&zenid=7e2679ef2ef84f290d14e2a9f0281f8e Pattye Ludwig
  2. Hi Mike, thanks for your positive comments. I am really proud of Gene on this project, he had this vision for so many years. This band is awesome, all Pittsburgh cats. Gene loved to showcase the talents in his hometown and this is the 4th CD that he used Pittsburgh musicians. Many record execs thought that was a bad move, but Gene didn't care. The music is out there....
  3. I just found this post and wanted to confirm that "What's New" and "Double Exposure" came from the same recording session done in July 2000. I was there, the trio did the tracks for Jimmy's CD and then Cecil and Gene stayed on to put some more tracks in the can for a future duo release. That was one long day. pattye ludwig
  4. Review #3 from All About Jazz, reviewer Dan McClenaghan, posted today: http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=38963
  5. I have to chime in here, not being a musician or anything. But at the recording session for this CD, Scott did the same thing. He probably changed that reed a half dozen times. Perhaps it is like an emotional tick or OCD thing? Pattye
  6. I am glad that you enjoy it. There were only 100 pre-order limited numbered copies available on the Big O website. Those numbered copies with the 45rpm are still available for the regular price as of today, as well as on cdbaby.com. The digital downloads will be released on March 1: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/geneludwig Pattye Ludwig
  7. Thank you Michel for your support in purchasing Gene's CD. I actually produced this CD and I am so happy with the finished product. It was a hard road getting the funds but it finally happened. I deeply wish that Gene was here to see the CD released since it was his big dream to make this recording, but I feel he is aware of it. Jim has provided so much guidance and help to me in this endeavor. I don't see why he couldn't ship to Belgium, may I ask how much postage it charged you? If anything, you might need to send a bit more for postage. When he returns he will sort it all out. Thank you for sharing in my happiness in this release. Pattye Ludwig

  9. I guess you're just going to have a get a copy and give it a listen. Not only did Gene Ludwig get the call to do the date, he did a darn fine job! This is actually Gene's third organ date for Bob Porter and Rudy Van Gelder. The material is really well done. Pattye Ludwig
  10. What label is that record on and who are the sidemen? I have a record of GL on Muse (recorde in the 70's) which I particularly like. Thanks, Peter It's on Mainstream 6032. It was originally issued on Time 2199 under the title of "Hot organ". Recorded in Oct '64. Personnel is: Randy Gelispie - drums Jerry Byrd - guitar Tunes are: Comin' home baby (Tucker) Teach me tonight (Raye-DePaul) Blues waltz (Max Roach) Elder Smith (Ludwig) Moanin' (Timmons) Sermonette (Nat Adderley) The Preacher (Silver) Gino (Ludwig) It's a proper groove throughout. And it's LOUD! (Like it sez on mine) And HOT! (Like it sez on the original) MG Hello, just wanted to clarify that the original LP recording was indeed "Organ Out Loud" on Mainstream in 1964, followed by a re-issue and re-package by Time Records under the name "Hot Organ" in 1967. I'm glad you like the recording. Gene Ludwig Thank you so much Gene. A more than usually cordial welcome to you! Any idea where one can get "Educated sounds of Gene Ludwig" and "This is Gene Ludwig"? They're the only 2 I haven't got. MG Thank you for the welcome. My wife has seen both of these LP's on E-bay in the past several years, in fact in the past several months. I hope you can find them.
