  1. So, What Are You Listening To NOW?

Nothing like some new Monk to make the miseries of the smoke dissipate from my head (if not my lungs)
  2. Ella Fiitzgerald - The Lost Berlin Tapes

Definitely in for this one! gregmo
  3. So, What Are You Listening To NOW?

Disc 7, with Kenny Dorham on trumpet
  4. A lot of the Byas 40s stuff (both the American and European recordings) was issued on cd in Europe, by the Andorrans, I think. Mosaic has tended to shy away from reissuing material that has already been issued that way, even if it wasn't done all that well. That happened with the Hodges 60s Verve material that I talked about wanting Mosaic to do in this thread. It is too bad about Byas, because he is definitely one of the masters in need of some royal treatment. gregmo
  5. So, What Are You Listening To NOW?

Fine work by the late Gary Peacock on this one. Actually, my copy is disc two of the Rustbox.
  6. Dame Diana Rigg, R.I.P.

Ah, so many adolescent fantasies in my youth! Saw her live in London years ago with Rex Harrison in "Heartbreak House." A marvelous talent who will be much missed! gregmo
  7. Issues with Paypal

The fee I got charged was from my credit card company, not Ebay, Paypal, or the seller. gregmo
  8. With few exceptions jazz clubs have never exactly enjoyed long lives. I would imagine that if some close, others will open. Maybe that's the optimist in me! gregmo
  9. They issued some of the greatest box sets ever. Too bad they sold to Concord before they had a chance (in my dreams) to issue a Gene Ammons Prestige box! gregmo
  10. Issues with Paypal

    Me too. gregmo
  11. Issues with Paypal

I just saw this thread. Exactly the same thing happened to me, Bertrand, so you're NOT alone! I'm pretty sure I also labeled it a Friends and Family because it was for music lessons for a grandson, and she had asked me to do that. I switched to writing her a check! I have used Paypal for a couple of Ebay buys, but they specifically noted it was a credit card transaction without the fees, so I think they know about this. Anyway, thanks for the discussion! gregmo
  12. Oh, so will I. And I imagine I'll love it when I actually hear it! gregmo
  13. The Saxophone Colossus turns 90 today.

That would be a great read! Happy Birthday to the great one--and many happy returns!! gregmo
  14. That matches my count as well. Would be cool to add the MGM stuff, but I'd go for just the Deccas! gregmo
  15. Legacy did such a fine job with the Satch Columbias late in the 90s, including several alternates. I'll buy the Mosaic because, well, I buy Mosaics, but I do wonder how much that is really new and valuable will be on this one. gregmo
  16. One realistic set that might sell would be the complete Lionel Hampton Deccas from, what, '42-50? You could add the MGM Big Band sides on about 1 1/2 more cds. Scott likes the earlier stuff. gregmo
  17. So, What Are You Listening To NOW?

Some very nice early Tal Farlow on this one
  18. Finally got a shipping notice. Now I wait...... gregmo
  19. Nearly 1.5 million posts.

Most of the categories I follow seem to be pretty active, and not only because I blather away on them, either!! gregmo
  20. Just ordered my copy as well. We'll see.......
  21. So, What Are You Listening To NOW?

Disc 8 with some great Billy May arrangements:
  22. So, What Are You Listening To NOW?

Surprisingly good sound on this one: Followed by a later one. In a Big T kind of mood:
  23. So, What Are You Listening To NOW?

It was one of those very early Columbia digital transfers. I think the Japanese may have redone it, but that's an expensive buy, and I don't know if it's better. gregmo
