  1. Yeppy, it is indeed included in the Mosaic Select...And what a great album! As well as the FOX by Land. I got yhe Amy box shortly after it was released. A few month's back, I found my original LP copy, on the red wax! I knew I had it, I just thought it was trashed! It was not! Hallejua to 'ya!!
  2. Just listened to Giussepi Logan Quartet. lp. original ESP. SMILE. Next up: Gene Ammons "The Souful Moods of Gene (Jug) Ammons. Audiophile. Listening w/ my good friend, the artist, Harry Tulchin. Goodbye everybody and good luck...... Horny
  3. Lee Konitz Quartet "TRANQUILITY" Verve. Original. Mono. With: Billy Bauer, Henry Grimes and Dave Bailey. . From the liner notes: "...Grimes' contribution may scare a few people, especially Bass-playing people." Haw Haw!! Liner notes by Jack Fuller. Great lp. -------HB
  4. I loves me some Gatortail!! I played "Headed and Gutted" just a few days back. I always stump folks with the "Who wrote 'Night Train'" question. ------HB
  5. If this was mentioned before, I apologize, but didn't Logan also record on one of Burton Greene's ESP lps? I know I have that lp, the one with the close up image of Greene's face on the cover. I may be wrong on this, so back out to the garage to search for the lp. Clear me up if I'm mistaken. Listened to the Quartet (Logan's) yesterday. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I don't have Logan's 2nd ESP lp, anyone want to furnish me a copy?? Clifford?? -----HB
  6. Sad, another one gone.... R.I.P. Mr. Newman!
  7. Whilst in L.A. I had to check out Amoeba, I had been to the one in Berkely and S.F. The L.A. store is sick!! I listen to all kinds of music, so it really put a dent on my Visa. While perusing the Jazz selection at the L.A. Amoeba, I was rather happy because my jazz vinyl collection was superior to what Amoeba had to offer with a few pricey exceptions. The Rock section was very dangerous for me, but I left poorer but happy. ---Best to all, HB
  8. Now: Donald Byrd "Byrd Blows on Beacon Hill" Transition.
  9. Anybody enjoy the Charles Brackeen titles on Silkheart? I remember getting a bunch of Silkheart vinyl in the early 1990's. The 3 Charles Gayle titles, the fantastic Booker T. lp and the David Ware lps. Any feedback folks??? ---Best, HB
  10. I really enjoy the Cecil Payne set. I do believe I have one of the Jordan's, hell, now I gotta' go to the garage and hunt!! Best to all, -------HB
  11. "I saw the Stooges, covered with bruises..."----The Dictators from "Who Will Save Rock and Roll" R.I.P. Ron!
  12. John Lewis and Sacha Distel "AFTERNOON IN PARIS" Atlantic. 1956. With Barney Wilen, Kenny Clarke, Percy Heath, Connie Kay and Pierre Michelot. So Nice!!
  13. (sniff-Snort) R.I.P. Hubbard. I'll never forget waiting outside a club, in NYC, for EVER, 'cuz Hub was on one of his usual cola binges. When we finally get in and wait donkey's years for the show to begin.....Hub, after 1 tune, pulls a temper tantrum and LEAVES the show!! He made somee great music. I'll always dig the cat
  14. Charlie Ventura "The new Charlie Ventura in hi-fi" Baton records. No bass sax, but still great fun. W/ Billie Bean, Dave Hildinger, Richard Davis and "Mousie" Alexander on the drums. Sweet sounds from 1956.
  15. I dig Gryce!! "Rat Race Blues" both the record and the book swing. Dig!
  16. Sad news! I'll dig out some lps for a little musical tribute tonight! Good night sweet Prince....
  17. Yeah, a whole year has passed!! I like the Live in Florence 3 lps. They ARE uneven, but I'll take 'em!! Serendipity? I finally found vol. 3 from the live in Florence, thus completing the 3 records on frame. .R.I.P. Donald!!! ------HB
  18. Hey Clifford, Glad you got the Faruq lp on qbico, great lp imho. The Daniel Carter w/ Sabir Mateen is awesome if you can find it, also on qbico. Now spinning: John Coltrane "COLTRANE JAZZ" Atlantic. Mono. -------HB

  20. Roland Alexander "PLEASURE BENT" New Jazz. original. W/ Marcus Belgrave! Tip Top lp!!
  21. AHH, yes the economy has me by the short hairs as well! Esp. since my recent back surgery (can't wait 'till the bills start rolling in, even w/ decent health inssurance). 5 days in the hospital alone would bankrupt most of us! The Moondog bk. is good, well written, nice production. I have long been a fan...have the OJCs and Columbia lps on vinyl and the treasured 7" ep on Woody Herman's label. I have plenty of late period Moondog on cd. The book is quite revealing, so much so that you get that "Jeez, I didnt' really wanna' know that" feeling at times. My lady purchased this for me for my birthday, I think it was around $25.00 including great illustrations/Photog's plus the cd, which I still have not listened to yet. Anybody got some amusing anecdotes about Moondog?? Best, -------HB
  22. OK, I guess nobody gives a toot about thee Moondog book OR the CD. Okey dokey, ---------"Free your mind and your ass will follow"----G. Clinton -------------------HB
  23. Tommy Johnson "Complete Recordings in Chronological order" Wolf Records. Top notch!!! Next up: Ishmon (Ishman) Bracey "Complete Recordings" Wolf Records. A perfect day for the blues here in Denver, the weather is a chilly 24 degrees, I am recovering from back surgery and dont have to go back to work 'till February. The Pain pills really enhance music! Yes, it is true, much better than thee chronic I used years back........of course the music stands on it's own....blah blah blah.... ------HB
  24. Hank Mobly "MESSAGES" French pressing. Prestige/Carere. What a lovely set.
  25. I have always been intrigued by Moondog, I even have the 7" ep on Woody Herman's label. My question is: Has anyone read the book? It (the book) also comes with a 28 track cd. My lady got it for my birthday, and I have read the text but have not listened to the cd, which includes collaborations w/ Glass, Reich and others. |What say y'all??? Anything?? Thanks, HB
